Hey guys so I’m applying for a couple boarding schools this year. These include Phillips Exeter, Deerfield, Berkshire, Choate, St. Pauls, and Holderness. I was wondering anyone could chance me for attending my 11th grade year.
My courses right now are:
Honors Principles of Engineering
Math 3
Honors Anatomy and Physiology
Honors 3 Theater
Honors Chemistry
I just took my SSAT yesterday so I haven’t gotten my scores back from that yet but I think it went pretty well. My interviews have all gone very well and the representative for Berkshire even sent me an email saying how nice it was to meet me.
My extracurricular activities are:
Debate
Technology Student Association-Historian
Model UN
Science Olympiad
Photography
Archery
Project Genes
Explorers post meetings at a local hospital
I am also in the academy of Engineering at my school where I’m part of the leadership team.
I’m trying really hard so if I could get advice or chances from anyone that would be great.
Thanks guys
You sound like a great candidate! One thing you should be aware of, though, is that most schools don’t have high acceptance rates for incoming juniors, so competition is tough. How are your grades/ GPA? And your recommendations? Also make sure you write powerful essays because those have a great effect on your chances.
@HhopefulFforSsuccess2021
I have a 4.3 weighted GPA so all my grades are very good and I just got my SSAT scores back and my total score was a 2151. I’m aware that many schools can take as little as 8 new juniors so that’s why I’m a little bit wary about my chances. I believe my essays are pretty good but it all depends on what admissions thinks I guess.
@spacebunsweetie Wow your grades and test score are great! I don’t have much to say now, so I wish you Good Luck on your application/admission !
This all looks good but I would just be sure that you get good recommendations and strong essays because these can really make or break the application. I know (because I went to Berkshire) that they usually only take up to 4 new juniors (at most) so competition is tough. Good luck!
@cababe97 That scares me. Especially considering Berkshire is one of my top choices. I went to a boarding school fair and the representative for Berkshire later sent me an email commenting on how nice it was to meet me so fingers crossed. Thanks for the response.
Yeah, of course! @spacebunsweetie I think that as long as you keep focused with your grades, Recs, and essays, than you definitely have a good shot. Have you already toured the school?
Also, @spacebunsweetie who was the representative from the fair who contacted you?
@cababe97
No I haven’t toured yet because I live in NC so we’re waiting to see if I get in then I’ll tour. And her name was Brittney Plante.
