Chance me for some schools

Hi, I'm a rising senior and I'm thinking about applying to Princeton SCEA, Stanford, Harvard, UPenn, Vanderbilt, Tufts, WashU St Louis, Northwestern, Boston College and University of Michigan(in state). Please chance me, here are my stats.

(8am-4pm Monday to Friday, so basically giving away my summer)
3rd place at Bemis Quarterfinal for my area.
(Coaching next summer, if applicable)

Solar Car Team

Potentially coaching/assistant coaching this year

That's basically it for my committed EC's, so please chance me, thanks CC members!

Strong passion for sailing, and soccer, great GPA/ACT. I’d say it’d be better if you were part of some academic teams or things related to your major, but I’m sure those two sports took up all of your time. You stand a strong chance at Princeton SCEA because I feel you chose your ECs based on something that matters. But you’ll have to convince Princeton that they should pick your for your academic passion, not just athletics. Nonetheless, I’m sure you’ll get into 3+ of your choices.

I think sailing is a bigger hook for Tufts…

Princeton SCEA: Reach
NWU: Reach
Tufts: High match
UPenn: Reach
Harvard: Reach
Vanderbilt: High match
WUSTL: Reach
UMI: Low match
BC: Low match

Thanks for the input. Smarty, you’re totally right about sailing and soccer, along with hard classes in school, eating up all my free time, but how do I show that I’m academically involved enough more than taking a rigorous schedule of ap’s and getting A’s?

I think you have strong chance at all of the schools you listed- it is not up to me to decide what is a reach or match or whatever- that is for an admissions officer to decide. However, your profile looks pretty competitive. Obviously the schools you’ve listed are ultra selective (Harvard and Princeton), highly selective (WUSTL, Vandy, and Northwestern), and very selective (Tufts, UM, BC). Essays may help at many (WUSTL and Vanderbilt) have not had supplemental essays.

I’ll put my support for WUSTL as my son is starting their next week, but really the main issues are what you want to study and how you feel about the schools. Don’t go by published school rankings, as they can be quite misleading. Go to the school where you feel you will thrive (and not just academically).

Best of luck!

UPenn: reach
Vanderbilt: high match/low reach

WashU St Louis: low reach

University of Michigan: low match

Pretty agree with the chancings above except that you should be high match to low reach for NU.

Thanks to all who added input

Sorry for this, but bump

Penn: reach

Mich: low match

Pay attention to your essays because they often make the difference at top schools. ECs show passion - write about it. Your gpa and ACT score are very competitive.

Sorry for another bump

Might also look at Holy Cross-very similar to Boston College both Catholic/Jesuit schools(imo holy cross is more liberal). hc has one of the better sports programs for a selective LAC and a tremendous alumni network for jobs.
