These are the school I'm thinking about applying to:

Harvard
Brown
Pomona
UC Berkley
Yale
BU
Purdue
Northeastern
UChicago
Northwestern
NYU
UCLA
UC Irvine
IU

Hello?

Oh yea, you have a good chance of getting into all of those schools.

I am not an expert or anything, but assuming your ACTs go up:

Harvard- moderate match
Brown- match
Pomona- low match
UC Berkley- match
Yale- moderate match
BU- safety
Purdue- low match
Northeastern- safety
UChicago- match
Northwestern- match
NYU- safety (non- Stern), match (Stern)
UCLA- match
UC Irvine- safety
IU- Safety

low match = matched, easier for you to get in
high match = matched, harder for you to get in
safety = easy for you to get in
match = probably get in
moderate match = matched, a little harder

^^I hope I got those right.

Keep in mind that for schools like HYPMS I doubt almost anyone gets more than moderate match

Grades are good. Extracurriculars are OKAY, they don’t necessarily stand out to me, mostly because you lack leadership positions. Even for the math team (which you’ll be starting next year) it will not look that great, because you are starting it your senior year and didn’t work on it for at least two years of high school. Your test scores simply aren’t good enough at this point to get you into the most competitive colleges you have on this list. Retake them again and see. Also consider taking the SAT and especially SAT Subject tests (where you can demonstrate your fluency in French and Spanish). At this point with these standardized test scores, here is my best estimate of your chances:

Harvard- Super High Reach
Brown- High Reach
Pomona- High Reach
UC Berkeley (provided you live in CA)- High match, if you don’t live in CA- Low Reach
Yale- Super High Reach
BU- Match
Purdue- Low Match
Northeastern- High Match/Low Reach
U Chicago- Reach
Northwestern- Reach
NYU- Reach
UCLA (in CA)- Match, (not in CA)- High Match
UC Irvine- Safety
IU- Safety

Good Luck! Chance me back:

bump

I agree with @235423‌ who has given you good advice. The only thing I might do is switch the chances of NYU and UCLA (OOS). Since you signified that you are international, the UCs can be significantly more difficult to get into since they must accept a high percentage in state.

I heavily disagree with @yikesyikesyikes‌ . Schools like Harvard, Brown, and Berkley are ALMOST NEVER considered matches, even for students with extraordinary stats and extracurriculars, and I certainly wouldn’t put Stern as a safety. You have some impressive accomplishments, in particular with your Extracurriculars, but it is extremely difficult to get into those schools, and even tougher for international students.

Also, you need to bring your ACT score up. A 30 is below average at many of these schools and you want it to be able to reflect your abilities. So study and work hard on that, or consider the SAT. I don’t think being Kurdish will do anything specifically to help your chance of admissions because the demographics box is really general, unless you have been really impacted in some way, which you can write about in an essay. As for skipping eigth grade, while very impressive, it will not affect admissions because you will be held up to the same standards as the other freshman applicants.

Good luck and godspeed. I wish you the best, but I just didn’t want you to walk in there with misrepresentations of how hard it is to get in

@shawnspencer‌

I believe that the OP said international school, which does not necessarily mean that she is an international student. They are two very different things. I could be wrong though.

Harvard, Yale, Brown, and Chicago certainly aren’t matches lol. You’re a great applicant, but won’t be a sure shot.

@shawnspencer‌ @yikesyikesyikes‌ Yea, I’m a US citizen, not an international applicant

@235423 Yeah and I have leadership positions in all the club I’m in and on my board. So I guess you’re quite wrong.

Also my SAT Subject scores are:

French: 770
Biology: 760
Chemistry: 710
Literature: 690 (probably won’t submit)

@oystershelleatme‌ I think an international student is someone out of the state? Not sure though…

@kommyjones27‌ No, an international student is someone who is not a US Citizen and is a applying to an American university. I am NOT an international student. I only go to a international school

Stanford and Brown are out for you right now. You will have a pretty good chance if you get your act up to a 32+.

please chance me back! http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1663039-chance-me.html#latest

@oystershelleatme‌ That would definitely help if you could explain your leadership roles (what position you serve in for each)!
