You’re Hispanic! How did you get a 3 in AP Spanish?

Just kidding I’m also the child of immigrant parents–w/ a less than perfect command of my parents’ mother language…

EDIT: To answer your question, I think you’re a strong applicant, and you’ll likely be accepted to the majority of the colleges that you apply to. Stanford is a reach for everyone…Good luck!

I’m also a Hispanic doing Stanford REA. Back down man, there are too few spots as it is. And I got a 4 on the AP Spanish exam, making me more of a pure URM. lol no jk.

But seriously, I think your chances are basically average at Stanford. Pretty good scores and nice GPA/rank. But I do feel as if your ECs are a little random and generic. Nothing that impressive that really stands out or makes you unique. But you still have really good chances at Rice and the other schools that you listed. Good luck!

I think you have a good shot at stanford (EA, hispanic, legacy) and you have good stats as well along with it. Try to emphasize leadership roles in your ECs. I think you’re basically in at all the UCs, Portland. Low reach/high match at Claremont and Rice. Slight reach for Stanford and Pomona (but better shot at Stanford I think). Good luck!

Hey, so going along with what everyone else has said, having your amazing stats, URM, AND legacy, idk how u wont get into stanford. I think you are a high match for the other schools except UC’s where you are in also (maybe high match berkley )

I think you have a good shot as far as Rice goes (due to ethnicity, strong ECs + good test scores). I don’t know enough about the others to comment on your chances, sorry!

I think you have a wonderful shot at the UCs, and hopefully Stanford as well! Best of luck to you! I’m applying to Stanford this fall too and I’m debating between REA and RD. Do you know anything about each?

ilovecardigans: Both REA and RD have pretty much the same acceptance rate, but REA is for if Stanford’s at the top of your list but you don’t want to commit just yet. Also, RD gives you a chance to send your 1st semester senior grades. On REA, though, you can be accepted, deferred to RD so you get another shot, or just rejected and that’s that. Good luck!
