Chance me for Stanford, etc.

Boston University
Umass Lowell/Boston
Northeastern
Bentley University

Objective:

SAT I (breakdown): 2160 first sitting 2200-2250 superscore estimate for second time (getting solid 2300s on practices so this is worst case i'm hoping)
SAT II: First sitting: MII: 800 second sitting USH: 680 (might take lit. sat II if time)
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 3/400 (moved up from 6)
AP (place score in parenthesis):APUSH (4) AP Stats (5)

Essays: Very personal, tear jerker, i've had people read it and it's solid. This will hopefully be my strongest part because luckily I'm a fair essay writer.
Teacher Recommendation: asked APUSH and Ap stats teachers for recs
Counselor Rec: Probably generic. She is pretty useless.
Additional Rec: Piano teacher. mentioned my difficult home situation.
Other: I have been abused for years and have a horrible home situation. Not the type where you get support, etc. so all of my success is due to me in a way. Anyways, I mentioned this in my essay and how it helped me begin to grow as a person but limited me during my high school years because I was not in the right mental condition to go after facing the abuse at home, etc.

School Type: large public

“Ethnicity: Asian (not to be included in commonapp, but probably pretty obvious from name)”

Check the Asian Box if it is obvious from your name.

I think you have decent chances at UCB, UCLA and USC.

Full pay Asian:
Apply to some LACs such as Amherst, Williams, Middlebury. Also, include Wash U and Vanderbilt.

Good luck to you!

Oh, okay. Why do you say that, just curious? (About checking the asian box?)

Hellooooooo?

It seems as though you haven’t taken many AP/college courses prior to your senior year - is it because they weren’t offered? And your extra curriculars seem a bit too bland/cookie cutter.

Other than that and your mid-range SAT scores (my standardized scores are my weakness, as well), you seem to have a solid package all around.

I’d say all the top tier schools you mentioned are reaches (not high-reaches), as they are for everyone, while your safeties are in fact safeties - you should get into all of them.

If you’d care to chance me back (Stanford REA too!) - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1184450-chance-stanford-ea-princeton-northwestern-yale-duke-etc.html#post12987613</a></p>

Thanks and good luck :P

Yes, it is only allowed for junior and seniors, and the highest people ever take is 3 aps jr. year and 5 senior, and that is rare in itself. I will chance back.

You should get into all of your safeties. The reaches are all great, competitive schools. You’ll probably have a good shot at some UCs, and a decent shot at Stanford if you do REA. You might get into some others RD with great essays/recs, but they are really crapshoots.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1183374-chance-ugh-frosh-year-duke-nd.html</a></p>

Stanford (really considering REA)-expect a rejection
Berkeley-low reach
USC-high match
UCLA-solid match
Duke-reach
UPenn (Wharton)-high reach
Brown-reach
Princeton-high reach
Harvard-high reach

Safeties:
Boston University-in
Umass Lowell/Boston-in
Northeastern-half scholarship; maybe full ride
Bentley University-in

I would say increase your sat score to that 2200 and you have a good shot at all your schools.
By the way I answered your question, if your interested http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1179687-chances-columbia-brown-princeton-tufts-uva-williams.html</a></p>

Thanks for chancing me!

I will chance you guys later on when I get a chance, but thanks a million!

btw, you shouldnt bank on the sob stories so much. u need to show in ur essays ur genuine self

Okay thanks

Bump bump bump xD

Check the Asian Box.
Admission people might think that you want to game the system.

that’s what I was worried about. okay i’ll do that thanks for the advice :)

Stanford - high reach
Berkeley-low reach
USC-high/mid match
UCLA- low match
Duke- reach
UPenn (Wharton)-high reach
Brown-reach
Princeton-high reach
Harvard-high reach

and you’re in for all your safeties, thanks for chancing!
