The only thing that might hurt a bit is your GPA and class rank. After talking to my alumni interviewer, she said that what Harvard looks for is a nice safety net for those. They want to see that you have at least a 2000+, have a good GPA and a good class rank, but that those don’t hold as much weight as they get higher. Your extra curriculars are FANTASTIC and thats what they will love to see. I think you have a legitimate shot at every one of them.

Happy, a recently retired one.

Tucson, be careful what you believe from alumni interviewers. They are not trained and do not speak for the college. Oh the things they say! Look at the common data set. It will show you the importance of stats. 2000 at Harvard today is curricular file!

The CDS will help everyone be much more realistic. Over and over here, kids are telling each other they ave a great shot when the CDS tells us the poster as an under 2% chance. This is not the total “crapshoot” so many here think it is. The top schools have a well defined method to their madness.

There are few surprises when you understand what it really takes. The only thing I’m puzzled by these days is how many kids who far exceed everything, are amazingly accomplished wonderful kids and still don’t get in. 10 years ago ivies would have fought for these kids. But application numbers keep soaring and the number of seats remains the same.

Thank you TucsonTyler!

Bump. Please keep chancing me!

Bumpabump!

But yeah, the SAT doesn’t suck, contrary to what others are saying. Rank won’t hurt that much. EC’s = awesome. You stand a good chance of getting in to at least 1 of the colleges you mentioned.

You seem like a very highly qualified candidate, but I think that no one can truly have a high chance at Ivy league schools; there are simply too many well-qualified applicants.

Chance me back?

To Mathnerd: Who are you? and, yeah.

Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Princeton

I think all of these school will be high reach for you if we only look at your OVERALL profile. But since you are focused in your leadership, provided that your essay and recs can demonstrate that, you can get into those unis. :)

I’d really appreciate that if you can chance me back in my thread : chance an International for IVYs and top LACs

@Waverly, out of curiosity, why do you think a 2300 is “average”? Clearly a large number of kids who get into these schools will have SATs in that range, but at the very least, I wouldn’t think that it would hurt her. Of course the SAT 2s are low, but again, probably still keep her competitive.

@patpat. Can you post a link to your thread? I can’t seem to find it… my bad, I’m new to this whole website… :D

@happy person : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1248301-chance-international-ivys-top-lacs.html

hahahaha me too. Not a problem
By the way, we face the same problem. My ranking percentile is reduced due to the low number of students in the graduating class (only 30) so I can’t expect to get top 1% though my class is really competitive…hahahahah

chance me please :)

I think you have a good shot (~60-70%) at these though unfortunately ethnicity may hurt your chances a bit.

Bump! Thank you everybody!

i think the only lacking part here is the 15% in the class. it’s not the best but according to your stats, it seems like you should be higher than 15!
judging from what my boyfriend tells me, you MAY have a chance at harvard. Not gonna lie, it’s a lot tougher for asians to get into harvard because you’re competing with other top people as well. but good luck! all those schools are reaches but i’d say a low reach is columbia and stanford

chance me back please!

My school doesn’t actually rank. That 15% is a guess.

Bump! Bump! Bump!
