Hmm…you should really post this in the general Stanford forum instead of the Class of 2014 thread (just a courtesy thing). And keep in mind that when you post chance threads, most people won’t be able to tell you whether or not you’ll have a “good” chance of getting in because Stanford’s admissions system is quite holistic. Make sure that your essays are top-notch and afire with passion. And you don’t need a lot of fantastic extracurriculars…just let your application show which areas/activities are your passions…what exactly are you interested in? Creative writing? Piano? Community Service? Model UN. You have a lot of interests but are there any that mean that much more to you? What sort of things have you done to pursue these interests? Initiative is a quality that I think adcoms like to see in students.

Best of luck!

I guess my major passion is spanish. I highlighted on my application that I studied abroad in Spain for 5 weeks, I’ve taken four years of spanish and now I’m in AP Spanish, and I do community service at a bilingual elementary school where a lot of kids speak spanish, and I’m in spanish club.

My other passion is public speaking which is why I am in the Forensics Club and Model UN. In both clubs I can practice speaking, but in different ways.

URM status will help but your stats besides that are ok and your ecs were a little weak. People still get in though with your stats so i think you still have a fairly good shot.

did OP end up getting in???

I don’t think so. D:
