OTHER:
State: FL
School type: Public
Ethnicity: Asian (Vietnamese)
Gender: Male
Hooks: Grandpa went to UPenn for medical school (does that count for legacy?), Cousin currently attends Stanford but I'm not sure if that would count for anything.

Questions:
-How do colleges view taking online classes to GPA boost for class rank? A lot of my peers are taking AP classes online to boost their class rank while I haven't taken any... so their class ranks are higher than mine. Will this affect me negatively?
-How much do these schools, Stanford in particular, value 5's on AP exams if you can't use it for credit? Are 5's and 4's considered much differently?

Thank you so much! Any advice would be much appreciated!

Your in at least at one of those schools for sure. Amazing stats keep up the good work.

almost 100% sure you’ll get into all of those schools. ESPECIALLY stanford, they will LOVE that you are a world champ in taekwondo. Also, you can take online classes to increase your rank if you want to, it wouldn’t hurt, BUT honestly you really don’t need to do that, your stats are already more than outstanding and you’ll definitely stand out from a lot of other applicants.

You’re an outstanding applicant and quite frankly I’m jealous. You have incredible test scores, an incredible GPA, and show passion in quite a few areas. While no acceptance to these top universities is guaranteed, I would say you have a better chance than most.

If you are going to retake the SAT, make sure you study a lot to insure improvement, although a 2250 is plenty high enough.

Chance me back?

Bump 10 char

Stanford, is a match probably. (if you ED im pretty sure youll get it  )
Northwestern is a match
UPenn low reach
Columbia low reach.

this is only because im pretending you didnt do so well on your SAT 2s. if you do really well on your SAT 2s, im sure youll get in these :D

chance me back! : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1492630-can-i-get-into-rutgers-university-new-brunswick-sas-d.html

Lol, I’d say you’re good for all of them, I find UPENN to be the most selective. Man, sometimes some of these stats are so outrageously amazing I find them hard to believe.

Good luck!

You are a match for all of them.
The hardest to get in of all those schools is Columbia, but I still think you have a good chance.
Northwestern is DEFINITLEY a match for sure… could even call it a safety for you.
Chance me back pls?

You definitely have a great shot at these schools. Just do well on subject tests and you’ll be set!
As for Stanford accepting APs - if you go on their website, they should have a list of AP exams and what scores they grant credit for. Some colleges even list the courses each score will replace.

As the others have said, fantastic stats. Congrats on all your hard work; it will be paying off in the coming months.

Stanford - Match
Northwestern - Match
UPenn - Match
Columbia - Low Reach

If you could chance me back, that would be awesome!

Bump 10 char

I was the first person to chance you but I read this thread again and if your SAT II’s go well you will most likely get into all of these schools. Stanford is pretty much a definite so congrats on that. Im about 99% sure you will get into northwestern and about 75% sure you will get into Upenn and Columbia. Congrats!
