Chance me for Stanford please?

I had never even considered an ivy league school until I saw that some of them, including stanford, cover your tuition if your parents make under 75k a year...then I came on here and saw this quote about someone's college visit
"It was about 75 degrees when i visited and students were in their swimsuits playing Frisbee, sliding down makeshift waterslides, and playing volleyball on the lawns. They all seemed pretty down to earth though and everyone we ran into was smart but not pompous or arrogant."
I think I would love it, but after looking at some other posts, to be honest I doubt I have much of a chance and don't want to throw away the $125 that it takes to apply if my chance of being accepted is non-existant.

Anyway, here are my stats...
33 ACT
4.0 out of 4.0
class rank 1/101
We don't have special AP classes but I go to a private school and most of our classes are as hard or harder than public school AP classes

I have taken the hardest classes possible all 4 years, however (this probably kills me) I dropped calculus and added fit for life a few weeks into the year because I just didn't have time (my school is 45 minutes away, I would get home from practice around 7 every night, eat dinner, sometimes babysit, do chores, and do my other homework... there was no way I could fit in another 90 minutes a day for calc homework and stay healthy)

four year cross country and track varsity athlete, 1st team all-conference and state qualifier, captain of the cc team this year, our team won state my sophomore year, I have no idea if this matters but my PR's are: 4k-15:33 3200-12:28 800-2:19 400-59.5 HJ-4'10

My EC's for school are
Teens for Life (50-ish volunteer hours, I led a few small projects and was treasurer)
Math team
Academic bowl
NHS

Some other stuff I've done
Counselor for Camp Grace (a one week summer camp for inner-city kids) two years
Sunday school teacher 2 years
Vacation Bible school teacher 4 years
Christmas for Kids helper or games leader 4 years
Volunteered at the food pantry maybe 20 hours
Youth group member and I've also volunteered randomly through that

I don't consider myself a great writer but I have had an essay published once and could probably get help from my English teacher with that... recommendations shouldn't be a problem either =)

as far as work goes, I have done tons of babysitting and I also work at old country buffet as a hostess and cashier

So that's about it, I would really appreciate it if people would chance me!

I wouldn't be devastated not to get in or anything but if I did it seems like it would be an incredible experience if I did

Lol ur running stats are pretty good, but I coudl beat ur 400 easy =). I think this would be a reach school. ur essay would have to be really good to get in. Also, you haven’t told the SAT scor ewhich makes this difficult to judge, but overall this is hard to get into for u.

lol never mind ur running’s aren’t that good. I misread them. I could beat them no offense.

not being mean but i’m a runner and how did you and your teams win states when you’re captain with a 15:30 4k… I can’t make top 10 on my team with a 17:18 5k (13:58.9 4k) and we aren’t anywhere near the top in the state.

and i have no idea about stanford, sorry.

EDIT: lol didn’t realize you were female, i guess your times are alright then.

wow you guys are so nice lol… but if you’re male I can see where you’re coming from I guess
we were pretty lucky to win state, our team hadn’t really improved from the past couple years when we got 4th-5th I guess the other top schools just lost more runners to graduation than they took in… another thing captain has nothing to do with time, I was only 5th on the team that year

I think that runners usually have high GPA’s and test scores, at least at my school the valedictorians are usually in cross country so I don’t think I will stand out as an athlete as much as I might if I was in volleyball or something

This year our two XC captains are the valedictorian and the salutatorian, so I guess they are pretty smart. :P
