@vballgurl thanks for the ideas! You’re packed as well, good luck to you!

Hey @Dream0n, with those scores, you are essentially in at Cal or UCD (also my safety hahaha). At Stanford, beyond the 2300 threshold, its mainly ECs, and you don’t seem to have any hooks. still, the leadership you demonstrate is amazing and the varsity sports are also going to look great. so I would say high match for Stanford. All the best to you!

Great GPA and test scores. Ok ec’s. What is going to make or break it for you is your essays. So you wanna major is pre med? Then write about your pre med ec’s in your essays. Write about how you developed leadership skills through them. Write about how you helped your community through your pre med ec’s. Write about how pre med sparked and continues to blaze your intellectual curiosity. Make it seem like your ec’s mean sooooooo much to you that without them you would be a very different person for the worse. If you write stellar essays then i think Stanford would be a high match/low reach. Like i already said, your essays are gonna make or break you. Just put in the work.
How bad do you want it?

Your numbers are tops and you have lots of participation. What have you started that’s about your passion, has made a difference? Stepson just finished Stanford Phi Beta Kappa. He was Presidential Scholar from his state, 4th cross country runner in the state, though he never ran varsity in college, was a teaching assistant at his high school from sophmore year on and wrote a very personal, no holds barred essay. So many of these schools could populate each frosh class with left-handed valedictorians but it’s not all they’re looking for.

Your ECs are NOT weak!! Clearly you have done incredibly well in high school. It’s your essays that will get you into Stanford at this point. It is a 5 percent acceptance rate, but you must know that…just remember, acceptance or rejection does not determine your worth as a person. I bet you can get into all of those other UCs, especially UCLA. Good luck! Stay confident. :)

Thank you for all the encouragement.

Stanford Early- 35%
Berkeley- 75%
Davis- 90%

but remember to work hard on ur essays too, theyre 1/3 of ur app…

GOOD LUCK!

Each ivy level school is looking for something different, keeping that in mind you are still stellar with your grades and scores and if you can portray your passion through your essays and your teachers back in up in rec letters You’re a top applicant anywhere, great job in just life man! you my friend rock(and are humble which Is hard to find ) good luck!

@bigboyoncampus and @blazer56 thanks for chancing me.

you are so in. wow.

Woah you got a lot of comments and views on this post O.o, congrats. I think you’re one of the few highly qualified students for Stanford, they better accept you. Your “almost” perfect test scores make me so jealous. You’re so involved in school and in the community, claiming a leadership role in almost everything you do. I know you don’t like out of state schools, but if you get deferred or reject from REA Stanford, any other school would most likely accept you with RD including HPY. You could also re-apply to Stanford’s med school because I know you’ll do well on your MCAT.
Good luck and don’t worry.
Make sure you perfect your essays.

Stanford: Reach
UC Berkeley: match
UCLA:match
UC Davis: low match

From what I am seeing on your post and everyone else’s, you should never back down. Keep going because you are almost there!

You’re application, at least grades and standardized test scores wise, is as strong as it can be (once you reach mid 2200’s on SAT scores, you’ve basically made a cutoff, and you’ve far exceeded that). You’re extracurriculars are very good, but I agree with you that they aren’t anything extraordinary. That leaves the essay. It’s just my opinion, but, if your essay is really strong, you’ll most likely get in. The one caveat is that the essay has to be strong to Stanford’s liking. I recommend that you pick up a book discussing how to write the college essay (the one by Harry Bauld is terrific). Because of this, I don’t think it’s worth me giving you an arbitrary rating. You simply have the essay or you don’t, it’s that simple :-j

As for the UC’s, I think you have a greater than 50/50 odds of getting into ALL of them. People make UCLA and UCB put to be harder than the actually are for in state applicants; as long as your essays for them are decent, your grades and scores make you a great candidate.

If you have a bit, chance me back! Best of luck!

@maxnadelman41 thanks lol, it’s not gonna be easy
@Classof2019yay you have valid points, I will probably apply elsewhere if I receive a rejection (praying this won’t happen)
@RonaldinhoLion thanks
@NotAPlusAsian thanks for the push!
@235423 thank you! =) same goes to you keep In touch man; you’re a gr8 candidate as well.

Hey Dream0n, your academics look very strong and you’d likely get into the UC colleges with decent essays. For UC Berkley I have a friend with less EC’s and less standardized test scores get in with grades around the same as yours. For Stanford it will probably come down to how well you express your interests and skill in your admissions essay as that plays a big role in acceptance.

UC Davis: safety
UCLA/Berkeley: match
Stanford: low reach/reach

@Dream0n, your EC’s are pretty stellar. The only thing I would recommend you do to have a better chance at Stanford is more leadership positions. I see you’re the president of many clubs,so this will stand out. Have you thought about other internships? I believe if you participate in more internships and the program at Stanford that you were mentioning, you will have a better chance. Hope this helps and good luck!

Also, if you plan to do an interview at Stanford, mention some unique qualities that people don’t see on your transcript. Your EC’s are really great (as I said before), but are also somewhat simar to many other Stanford applicants–though the fact that you play badminton is very unique. Good luck!

@KoaCoa thank you!
@lessofaword5233 thanks! Yes, you’re correct, and I’m currently waiting on some internship or research opportunities. Good luck to you too!

Stanford would be a reach, but it’s definitely not out of the questions.
You could probably get into any UC you wanted, but UCB and UCLA would be the best matches for you. Good luck!

Thanks for chancing me! I wish I had your stats!!!
