Chance me for Stanford University!!!

Yup, I agree. I just wanted some feedback and tips! :bz

Haha, well first off I like seeing Key Club up there! (Y)

Your academics are very good – your AP scores are great but it may also depend on how many APs your school offers (if you’ve done most of them then that’s ideal).

Your standardized test scores don’t need any sort of improvement; you’re fine.

Your ECs are good; if you can get into a selective program at Stanford or any Ivy that would boost them a little more. I would obviously focus on the ones that show your interest in Premed, as well as Badminton, Varsity sports (Stanford’s a big sports school), and one other interest (volunteer work?).

This is just my guess, but if you managed to receive a 12 on the essay (wow, by the way), your Common App essay should be great. The essay would probably be your shining light. While your grades and test scores are on point, and your ECs are strong, Stanford is almost disgustingly selective.

Thanks for the chance!

Stanford-reach just cause it is for everyone but your scores and grades are amazing
UC Berkeley- match with possible regents scholarship
UC Davis-match & they have a 3 year medical program that would be great for you!

Thanks for the chance!

Wow you’re really good! Academically and EC-wise…I think it’ll be difficult for most people to match up to you! I think you have a much better shot than me! Just try your best for your essay and see what happens! :slight_smile: Even if you happen to not get into Stanford, there are plenty of other great schools which will most likely accept you.

@econsftw‌ good luck to you too, thanks for the chance.

i think that stanford is a low reach/high match with as long as your essays are great and you maintain everything senior year!

Your stats are definitely on par with, if not better than, most Stanford students. Great test scores with a perfect GPA goes a long way with the admissions committee. However, with no national level awards or strong research opportunities, your EC’s might be a bit weak for Stanford. Try to do something this summer or your first semester of senior year to boost that up. With schools like Stanford, a lot of the time, decisions are based on luck. You definitely have the qualifications for a Stanford student, but there are too many qualified applicants to guarantee anything!

@empanada thanks!
@WorkSAT2014 thanks for the recommendation!

WOW, that’s a long list of ECs. I TOTALLY relate to the “great scores but mundane ECs” worry you have, though I honestly think you’re fine. At this point, the essays are crucial. Make your ECs look really interesting and impactful and you will have a very strong chance at Stanford. UCB (still crazy good!!) is almost guaranteed and UCD is a safety

First off a student of your ability should know that there is no premed major. If you put on your application that you would like to major in premed, many colleges would get the impression that you are uninformed (premed is a track of classes you take to get into med school, a major is something like chemistry, bio, etc).

As long as your essays are good you are a shoe in for all except Stanford, which is a toss up

@Hind2015‌ thanks for the chance
@T41997‌ yes, I knew that; I just put it as premed because I thought everyone would understand where I’d be headed, but thanks for the chance. :slight_smile:

@empanada Something tells me you are in no higher than 8th grade… . :-?

@AnnieBeats actually, i’m a senior in high school. i said what i said not because i am naive, but because i am optimistic. while i know that all “ivy-level” schools are a reach, i think that this student has a good shot. clearly, they know from the remarkable amount of replies that nothing is a guarantee. getting a post here and there that boosts your hopes really helps make one feel better throughout the turmoil, stress, and confusion of the application process. i’m not sure why you felt that it was necessary to make that comment. in the future, please stick to chancing the student, instead of critiquing the commenters. :-*

I think you have an outstanding resume and should have no problem getting into any of the UC schools. Your academics are nearly impossible to beat, so if schools only looked at those you would have a great chance with Stanford. However, there are thousands of people out there who also have great academics and ECs, so sometimes it is just being lucky. With that being said, your academics may have stacked the decks in your favor and luck may be on your side.
If you have a second I would love for you to chance me.

@brianb299‌ thanks for the chance! I’ll definitely chance you back!

Will you guys please chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1680593-chance-please-will-chance-back-post-link.html#latest

Stanford is a reach for everyone, but you’re definitely a very qualified candidate!
UCB: High match
UCLA: Match
UCD: Match
Overall I think that you have really amazing stats and ECs, just make sure that you apply to more safeties/targets! Also, I would disagree with those who said that you have generic ECs - I think they’re en par with other Stanford applicants.
