Wow, your stats are amazing! Anyways, I think you have a great shot at Stanford. However, (I wanted to be pre-med) I highly recommend shadowing docs in your field of interest (I’ve shadowed 4 neurosurgeons and 3 psychologists to date). You’ll (hopefully) like the experience and it’ll show drive/unique endeavors.

You’re nearly perfect on paper. I don’t see you having any problem getting into UC Berkeley. Stanford is never a sure thing. The valedictorian from my school last year had grades and ECs very similar to yours except he scored a 2400 on the SAT. He was a white male from a small east coast town and he got rejected. I think it really takes someone who will stand out from the rest so if you still have time left in high school, be open to new things; you won’t always be able to make something “amazing” happen. Sometimes the best things happen when you step outside your comfort zone.

@empanada
Why lie and give false reassurance? Isn’t that worse than being honest? Just to provide some perspective, do some research on CC. There are multiple 2400 students on here who got rejected by Stanford and every Ivy League. Anyone who says anyone has a good chance at any ivy if the person hasn’t cured cancer is either stupid or lying.

@Dream0n, I can’t help but wonder why you’re still on this thread after 140+ posts. Surely you have learned all you can; managing this thread is no longer productive.

In my opinion your chances at Stanford are higher than many posters are giving you credit for. Yes, it’s a reach for everyone unless they have national and international recognition in addition to your scores. But with your ECs, it might be a low reach. I have an Asian friend who was admitted to Stanford last year, and her ECs didn’t seem to be quite as stellar as the yours.

One anecdote is not by any means a guarantee that you will be accepted. Far from it. Looking at Stanford’s data, only about 10% of students with her scores get accepted:
<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University;

Fortunately, you seem to have gone to bed exhausted in a good way every night for at least four years straight. That will definitely work in your favor. Your dedication is clear, and your profile is typical of admitted students–even better than that of many admitted students. Conversely, it’s not as good as some students who will invariably be rejected. The randomness cannot be sidestepped.

I have a gut feeling that you’ll get accepted, but unless you’re in need of a stomach transplant, my gut is worthless to you. The same is true for all the other posters; their opinion has no bearing on your decision. Just breathe and apply.

Thanks for the replies! @OldNassau yeah, may be a little worthless, but it’s been a habit checking CC every few days or so.

I think that you are a very strong candidate. Your ECs are spot on and overall amazing. Your stats are rock solid. I’m positive that you’ll pull off a great essay since it seems as if writing is one of your many fortes. Being an ORM may stack the cards against you, however you should definitely apply to Stanford ED and you will probably get in. Please tell us if you do. The UC schools should be easy for you to get into. Best of luck !

And I don’t think that you should count hours from 7th and 8th grade since they look at your ECs and volunteer stuff from freshman year and up.

Stanford: match
You resume is simply AMAZING.

Bump!!! App is almost due…can’t wait until December;

Hey @Dream0n!
This is an excellent app, but it’s a matter of chance. All you can do is pour your heart out on the essays and hope you receive excellent recs. Believe in yourself!

Lol, you’re the type of person on here who makes me jealous! You’ve definitely got a chance at Stanford… and you’re ECs aren’t bad at all!

Hey everyone! For those who wanted to know what’s up, I can jubilantly confirm that I’ve been accepted to Stanford through REA! If you have any questions or if you’re in need of advice, feel free to message me. I honestly didn’t think I’d get in, but I believe that my essays were key to my acceptance.
Good luck to you all w/ college anxiety… even if you’re not accepted to your dream school, there are multiple paths that lead to success! Don’t let a rejection stop you!!!

congrats on your acceptance! you really deserved it!

@Tennistiger Thanks so much!

Wow, I’m really impressed. And I thought I was hard working haha. Congratulations on your acceptance!
@elitelow thanks! Good luck!
Hey, @Dream0n First of all, congrats!!! I applied to Stanford, too, but regular decision, so the acceptance rate regular decision will very likely be close to 3 or 4 percent… However, Stanford is a dream of mine, and would appreciate it if you could tell me how much of a chance I have at it. (You can click on my name, then go to my threads. Click on the most recent chance thread for my stats and stuff.)
I know I’m not as strong an applicant as you, but feedback from a person who is going o Stanford from my year would be great.
Thanks, and congrats again!
Thanks! I’ll check it out.
ClapClapClap … You make me look pathetic. Congratulations, yet i’m very jealous and I envy you.
I would definitely say you have a great resume and you would be into good consideration for Standford. However, Stanford applicants usually have a flair in their applications like submitted a research article for the newspaper or developing start-up companies. If you work on something out of the ordinary, I’d say your chances are pretty solid considering you’re portfolio is well made and you have written great essays. For Berkeley and UC Davis, I’d say your chances are solid.
