Chance me for stanford?

Hey CC,
I'm an Indian Junior from NJ weighing my options for college, but I really really really want to go to Stanford and Wharton. What do you think my chances are?

GPA: 3.76 UW, 4.33 W (I had a really bad freshman year, all B+'s but after that I have straight A's, does improvement count for anything?)
Harderst Courseload possible for my school
SAT: 2400
Extra Curriculars:
Significant:
Founded and run my own tutoring service (its actually a business not only me tutoring)

Internship at Merril Lynch

Founder and President of my school's Investment Strategies and Economics Club (its gotten to become a pretty big organization in the first year, 30+ members, how do I show colleges this?)

Less Significant:
Played Basketball and Volleyball, but a bad ankle injury (hurt it 3 times in one year -_-) caused me to quit, not sure if i'll play Bball as a senior or letter in it
Volunteereed as a camp counselor at religious camp at local Hindu Temple (HTCS)

Volunteereed as a camp counselor at local yoga camp (Gurukul Yoga Center)

Volunteered at the Somerset Medical Center as a receptionist

Volunteered at Bridgewater-Raritan Library

Teach Curriculum and Competition Math (AMC, AIME, MOEMS) at Insighful Learning Center

Member of Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and French Honor Society

Regional Gold Medal Winner in NorthSouth Foundation Spelling Bee, Math Bee, Vocabulary Bee, and Essay Writing Competition

Proficient in Mrudangam (Indian Drums); played in many concerts in Hindu Temples for religious festivals and in the Cleveland Aradhna (International Indian Music Festival)

Aside from Wharton, i'm looking at Columbia, UChicago, UMich-Ross, NYU-Sterns, UVA, UCB-Haas

Let me know what you guys think?
Thanks

Hey! I have the same GPA trend issue, two pathetic semesters, and one semester with a 3.8 GPA UW for my first 3 high school semesters. From there it was all A’s. On the trends, I heard that they love it. According to my teacher, who knows a lot about this, they would take a student who deals with problems, works with them, and comes out strong, when compared to a consistently strong student.

Other than that, your job opportunities are amazing, and shows your passion for many different things, and how you pursue them. If I was an admissions officer, you would definitely be accepted. Then again, I have no idea what they weight importance on, etc. :P

Also, what are your other test scores? Telling from your 2400 SAT 1 score, admissions might think that the classes at your school were too easy, and bored you, even after taking your hardest possible schedule. Noticing your perfect score on the SAT 1 will definitely prove your potential as to becoming a student at Stanford University.

Best of Luck!

Your Asian so your chances are not very good.

^ StanfordCS, just because you want to go to Stanford does not give you justification to demean others, especially since I note that you didn’t even read through his stats (even if that fact is true)

@superanvid: I believe you have a good chance. Just write a solid essay/your passion/your interest in Stanford

^ He asked for his chances and I gave him the truth. I have seen far too many times amazing asian students, rejected for mediocre URM’s . What should I tell him that his chances are good, when a matter of they’re not.

P.S. I did read through his stats.

Not to be a jerk, but Stanford is right. You haven’t taken SAT IIs, your GPA is weak, and you’re an ORM. Your only EC that really stands out is the Economics Club you made. Nothing else really shines through.

^ His GPA isn’t weak if you read the explanation, as Stanford doesn’t look at freshman year

I’m aspiring for Stanford as well, if ya’ll could chance me it would be much appreciated!
