I guess my question is: how much do Stanford admissions officers really care about stats like unweighted GPA for non-athletes? I can already name peers in my county with much higher GPAs than me that will be applying to Stanford next year. Thoughts?
P.S. I go to a part-time magnet school, which may explain low GPA compared to other non-magnet classmates.
Stanford, like many other top schools, operates with a holistic admissions approach. Your application will be viewed in its entirety, with grades, essays, extracurriculars, letters of recommendation, and more all being looked at. I believe you meet the grades and test scores minimum, but everything else is what will set you apart and get you in. Focus on extracurriculars and making connections with teachers. That is what will set you apart, and that is what will get you in. Also, find some safety schools and match schools!
PS: I am a highschool junior, so take of this what you will.
