I have one other thing I want to briefly mention. I do have one "C" in a chem class i took sophomore year. I explained the circumstances in the application and everything but I still think it hurts my chances quite considerably. let me know what you think about it...

anyways thanks for looking at this. I really am just biding my time until I hear back. I'd be happy to chance anyone who chances me. thanks guys

wash u
claremont
emory
yale
Northwestern
some others

Stanford- IMO, You have a pretty good chance of getting in. Your test scores may be a bit low for them, but your GPA and EC’s seem to be great. You have a strong schedule and the national merit scholar status should boost you up.
Yale- A Low reach, but still a decent chance.
Others- Should have no problem from what I see.

Chance me back please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/819131-chances-ucs-cal-schools.html</a></p>

the board you sit on and are running for president for–I think Stanford will be interested to hear about that. like previously remarked, SAT is a little low for them but I think you make that up with your stellar APs (all 5s = nice). idk if legacy will help for Stanford? it might. also class rank will account for the GPA.

Stanford - mid-reach (as it is for everybody since it’s a toss-up for even most qualified applicants)
wash u - in
claremont - not to familiar but probably in
emory - in
yale - mid- to low-reach
Northwestern - match

if you chanced me as well I’d appreciate it

Emory: 65%
Stanford: 30%
Yale: 8%
NU: 40%
Wash U: 35%

Also if you are being recruited, things skyrocket

ya, unfortunately I’m not being recruited. I don’t really want to play varsity tennis in college. I will definitely play club tho

OH! and i totally forgot to mention- Stanford already recruited 2 athletes from my school, which I think also lessens my chances. My counselor says that sports is a completely different thing and it wont make a difference but I’m not sure about that…

haha everyone keeps saying bump…what does this mean?

Bump is when someone posts in a thread to bring it to the top of the forum list (since they are sorted by last post).

But anyways, I think you can get in at Stanford. BTW nobody call me racist, but when you mentioned tennis I was thinking to myself “please don’t be asian…” lol. Doing stereotypical things doesn’t help much apparently.

But back to your post, your test scores are low but your EC’s are excellent. Being legacy definitely helps you. I’m afraid to say its a match because Stanford is extremely competitive, but I will say you probably have more of a chance than anyone I know…
As for the other universities, you definitely have a shot. GEtting into Yale would be difficult, but you definitely show leadership in your EC’s which is something they’ll love. I think you are a reach for Yale, high match for Washington University in St Louis, Match for Emory, and high match for Northwestern.

Legacy and strong tennis are two hooks that will give leniency to you fro Stanford.

I tihnk you played your cards very well with teh SCEA Stanford choice as well.

Yea so your test scores aren’t great, but I think your chances can still be very decent!

You have good chances with the legacy.

The “C” will hurt you, but don’t worry about it.

…bump…

wow, pretty decent ECs =]

You have a decent chance at Stanford and your other colleges~

It’ll pretty much depend on your essays, a huge oppurtunity to DISTINGUISH yourself… seriously sometimes people have very very similar ECs…

work hard on ur other apps+good luck!

thanks guys. like the username, Djokovic!

Anyone else?

You have a really good chance of getting into Stanford. Congrats on your accomplishments  Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/816473-chance-aa-female-elite-schools-updated-stats.html</a> <—Also include Yale with the other chance schools

its kind of all been said before. your ecs are definitely your strong points and that is sure to look good on your resume. Your academics while not bad aren’t particularly strong esp for where you are applying to. You certainly have a decent shot at any of those schools

Stanford - mid/high reach
wash u - in
claremont - in
emory - in
yale - mid/low-reach
Northwestern - in

So it’s been 7 months (exactly) since I posted this thread, and I just happened to be browsing some of my old CC posts today. I thought I’d comment back on this admittedly dead thread-- I know people on chance threads like to actually see the results after the process is over.

So I DID get into Stanford, and I’ll be going there in the fall!! I’m ecstatic! I was deferred EA, and then accepted in the regular decision round.

After all was said and done, here was my final outcome:

Accepted- Stanford, USC (Presidential Scholarship), Claremont, Emory, Northeastern

Waitlisted- Washu, Northwestern

Rejected- Harvard, Yale

It’s fun to relive my nervousness when I posted this thread. Haha looking back, there was really no need to get all excited about it-- I would have been happy anywhere I got in (but especially Stanford!) lol
