Chance me for Stern and Shanghai please!!

Made a thread a couple weeks back but to no avail :(
So here I am again!

Nationality: Singaporean

GPA: 3.5/4.0 . Realized this is a little bit on the low side but I come from Singapore which have an extremely intense education system. Would that count for anything?

Edit*: Oh yea. I studied a great deal of finance modules such as risk management where i learn about the basal accords and business management such as the Porters 5 forces and BCG. Many other things too. Would there be a place to put this down?

Edit*: One thing to note is that I do not think that my GPA is truly reflective of my overall ranking. Because in Singapore, we have a streaming process where only a small handful of people would be placed into this course, based on meritocracy, and the GPA that i got is actually graded upon this small handful of people. Therefore, on the whole school wise, I believe my score should be seen as much higher. I could have gone to an easier course and get a 4.0.
As such, is there a way to communicate this to the school?

SAT: 1500/2150. Would a poor writing score pull down my application? I heard stern does not look at writing, is this true?

APs: Self studied everything. Is there a place to put that in the application? All taken in a year.

Estimated*
Calculus Ab (5)
Macro (5)
Micro (5)
Comparative government (4)

Extra stuff I did:
Online Distance Learning with Oxford
Did Introduction to Philosophy which was an extremely tough course.
And Introduction to Macroeconomics which was very simple.

EC: Internship with a bulge bracket firm. Won a national market-making competition. Was a head of a section in my EC. 22 months of national services.

^Please ignore the extra stuff that i did. Have not gotten my results on those yet so, it would be prudent to assume that it wont be good enough to send for the application

Please help and chance me
Dying to get an estimate on my chances

Does your high school send a School Profile out to these colleges? If they do, it should describe to AOs what your high school was like and explain your academic path.

Also, each school has AOs assigned to certain territories. So most likely they should be familiar with your school, if not, they probably can compare your schools with other schools in your area.

What exactly was the breakdown for your SAT (CR/M/Wr) ? And is your GPA weighted or unweighted?

Well, my school or basically all the school in my country do not have weighted classes, so my gpa is unweighted.

CR - 700
M - 800
W - 650

thanks! If my school does not send the school profile, can i request that they do?

Honestly, your GPA is a bit low for Stern, especially for international. So definitely have your school send a school profile and if NYU has any open houses or sessions in your area, you should attend, get to know the AOs there, talk to them, etc.

If you can, retake your SAT to get a higher score. That is what you can change right now. Your GPA you can’t do much about since I assume you are a junior this year. You have a great Math score so work on the other sections. I have also read that NYU does not look at writing but if they truly did not, it wouldn’t be in their CDS, so I would still work on your Writing score.

Also as an international, don’t forget to take the TOEFL.

Make sure you also add safety schools to your list.

If I remember correctly NYU lets you apply with only AP, IB or only SAT II. This is much more advantageous for us, internationals, since we ususally score higher in these exams compare to SAT I

@jasonloh, your SATs are fine, i got around the same score, and from the people I know in Stern, most of them are in the 2100- 2250 range. Good luck!
