0%. Apply to McDonald’s or something. College probably isn’t gonna be your tihng.

Jk. You’ll probably be able to get into both if you write decent essays.

Thanks, anybody else? Is my legacy a big thing or no?

Yeah legacy helps. I think you have a good chance at Stern core but not really for BPE. They look for people with a lot of specific qualities that make them an ideal candidate for BPE. These qualities include multiple foreign languages, ECs related to international stuff, etc. Basically they want to know that your experience has set you up to want to study business abroad since you’re spending a year and a half overseas.

Your chances are good, but I have just one small thing to point out.

Your gender is ‘man’, not ‘male’. Gender refers to your social identity, behaviors, clothes you wear, etc. your sex ‘maleness’ refers to your *****. Therefore it should read “ethnicity/sex” not “ethnicity/gender” if you meant to refer to yourself as male.

@ NYUSternie2016
Would you say that the Stern Core program is a major reach for me?

@NYU2013
Haha, ok thanks – I meant my sex is male.

The core program? Definitely not. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got in but I also wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t. You have a good chance!

Ok. Thank you! I plan to apply ED though, do you think that might be a deciding factor?

I expected as much - remember the words “sex” and “gender” are not interchangeable!

Yeah it’ll boost your chances slightly. However, be 100% sure you want to go to Stern (and NYU/NYC) and also be sure that you can afford it!

Keep in mind that you can deny an admissions offer from NYU even if it is ED if you feel that the financial aid package will put financial stress on you or your family.

“Students will only be released from the Early Decision agreement if they believe their estimated financial aid package does not enable them to attend.”
That is taken almost word for word from:
[Early Decision](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

So even if you don’t know that you can afford Stern now, apply ED if you want to and review your financial aid package when you get it.
Good luck!
