Chance me for summer B (I will chance back)

Intended major: Chemical Engineering (I'm not sure if this affects my chances of admission or not..)
Gender: M
Ethnic Background: Hispanic (Bolivian)

Unweighted GPA: 3.57
Weighted (UF) GPA: 4.125

ACT score: 30

Extracurriculars:

a few clubs that I have been in for 3 or 4 years. I have a two or three officer positions.
I did tennis for two years and track for three.

Community service (the weakest part of my application because I did not list how many community service hours I had, as I assumed UF would look at the hours on my transcript...)

Volunteered at a clinic for the summer

Volunteered at a library for the summer

Volunteered with some community service clubs

Tutored kids with a club

Honors and Awards:

AP Scholar with honors

High honor roll all throughout high school

school math recognition award (freshman year)

tennis diligence award

I didn’t list mine either because my counselor said they look at your transcript and I got in. Your chances are looking pretty good though.

That makes me feel a lot better. What were your stats, if you don’t mind me asking?

4.0 UW, 4.6W or something like that. SAT/ACT was around the same as yours. I was in 4 clubs with only one leadership position and I only had 100 community service hours. So you’re definitely solid on the ECs/Community Service.

thank you! bump!

Your SAT score is higher than mine, and your extracurriculars sound solid! I’m worrying about getting in for the summer B term as well…

I copy and pasted from my original thread :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a senior in IB.

SAT: 1310/1600
Math - 730
Reading - 580 >.<
Writing - 600
I just retook the test yesterday, October 1st Hopefully my reading score will improve…

Class rank: 99%, so I’m guessing I’m in the top 1%? :x Cuz my GPA is 3.6, and weighted is 6.2…(not uf-recalculated)

Senior year classes: IB Contemporary History, IB English IV, IB Psych HL, IB Chem SL, IB Chinese SL, AP Stats, AP Human Geo, “Research 5”

Took dual enrollment courses…MAC1147 (Pre-calc), CHI1121 (Elementary Chinese 2), and CHM1025 (Intro Chemistry)

My preferred term of entry to UF: Summer B 2012

My intended major: Pre-Pharmacy (Freshman Only)

English is NOT the primary language in my home. Also, am I considered a first-generation student or something? My parents came from Taiwan, and I was born in the US…but my mom attended FIU for graduate school. o.o

State: I’m a Floridian

School Type: Public…with the IB as the only magnet program

Ethnicity: Asian

I think my recalculated UF GPA is a 3.8… D:

Are you sure you calculated it right? I don’t see how it would be a 3.8 UF GPA if you’re in the top 1% of your class. What grades do you mostly get?

Yeah, I would imagine that you would be more in the 4.4 or 4.5 range, which in that case, would mean that you have nothing to worry about at all.

I get mostly A’s with a few B’s…I got 2 C’s in 2 AP classes last year :x Umm, my senior class size is about 700-800 students? I think I’m in the top 1% because of my high school weighted GPA…

Here’s my transcript, if you guys don’t mind calculating for me!

IB Psychology 1: A (it’s an IB, but it’s an elective…)

The ones I think that don’t count:
Art (.5 credit): A
Web Design 1: A
Computer and Business Skills (.5 credit): A

Not counting the last 3, I get a 4.3ish UF GPA, which is good. I did the math really quick though so it might be somewhere around there like 4.1-4.3. All your AP/Honors/IB/DE count as well as your Foreign Languages. AP/IB/DE are out of 5.0 points, Honors out of 4.5 points and regular classes like your Chinese 2 and 3 are out of 4.0 points.

Thank you so much! I just recalculated it myself again, and I got a 4.29 :3 I feel much better!

You guys are definitely in.
