Compared to the other resumes I've seen on CC mine certainly is not the best so I was wondering which research programs I should apply to and which ones I shouldn't bother trying to get in. I'm looking into RSI, Clark Scholars, Simons, Garcia, Rockefeller, BU RISE, and HSHSP.

Horace Greeley High School
Weighted GPA: 4.02
Last year I took AP Biology and AP European History and got 5's on the AP exams. This year I'm taking AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Physics B, and AP American History.
SAT II's: 780 Chemistry, 780 Biology, 800 Math II
Summer Programs: CTY Biology (2010), CTY Genetics (2011), AwesomeMath (2012)
Related extracurriculars: Science Olympiad, Purple Comet, Mandelbrot, Math League, USCF Class A chess player

Oh yeah and I'm in a research program at my school so I will have to submit the research I do to competitions. Permission to do this probably has more to do with who you work with than the program but let me know if any of these programs don't allow this.

Thanks!

RSI, Clark Scholars, Simons, Garcia, Rockefeller, BU RISE, and HSHSP.
Even though I’m apply myself but this is from the news I heard

RSI- Long shot and unexpected
Clark Scholars - 12/Total applicants
Simons - no idea
Garcia - Heard about it but it should be the same level as BU Rise
HSHSP MSU (?) - Since it’s not free then you have a shot
Rockefellar- My friend last year got into MSU HSHSP but got denied to this… His stats were actually pretty impressive too… Oh and they like NY residents more than out of state

In my experience, summer research programs are similar to colleges in that there is a fair degree of luck involved. I’d say with your stats, you definitely have a chance at any of these programs, but it’s really impossible to be more conclusive than that (about any applicant!).

I was a Clark Scholar last summer and applied to five other research programs. I was rejected from programs more competitive than Clark by the numbers, but I was also rejected from programs far less competitive than Clark by the numbers. Apply to any program you would enjoy and don’t worry too much about the competitiveness–something will work out in the end! Plus, all the nuances of the applications are great practice for the college application process (I was able to recycle parts of my summer program apps this year, which was nice).

which other summer research programs did you apply?
