Both of your scores are below the middle 50%. The middle 50% for GPA is 3.55-3.97. The middle 50% for ACT score is 26-30. Keep in mind these statistics INCLUDE the students who started in the summer. The closer you are to the bottom of the middle 50% the less likely you will get your first choice of campus or starting semester. That being said, if you can bring up your ACT score, that will help tremendously.
My daughter was accepted to the summer session DUS a couple of years ago. She’s a current Sophomore there. She had a 3.5GPA but a 29 on the ACT. The 3.5 was on the low end of the middle 50%, but the ACT score was at the top. She applied fall, but was accepted to summer and it was the best thing she could have done.
I’d say you are on the bubble. That means it could go either way. There is nothing you can do about your GPA right now, but if you can get your ACT score up 4 or more points, that is going to help you. Penn State is generally GPA and test scores. That’s what makes or breaks you. The EC’s are good if you are borderline, which you are so they might help you.
Apply prior to November 30 and bring up your ACT scores for your best shot! Good luck!
