Race: Biracial (1/4 black)</p>

<p>GPA/Rank:
-4.3 weighted for 9/10 grade, not sure of my unweighted gpa but it's probably around 3.8
-my school doesn't rank but shows the amount of people getting each gpa range by .5, so i'm for sure in the top 20% but i'm guessing i'm in the top 10%</p>

<p>PSAT score from Sophomore Year: 213 </p>

<p>Courses:
(My school is very tough academically and is known to be particularly challenging)</p>

H Earth Science (B+)
H English (B)
H World History (B+)
H French II (A-)
H Geometry (B+)</p>

<p>10th grade-
AE (accelerated) Biology (A-)
H English (B+)
H US History I (A-)
H French III (A)
H Algebra II (B+)</p>

<p>11th grade (grades are what i think i can get this year)
AE Chemistry (A)
H English (B+)
H US History II (B+ or A-)
H French IV (not sure- B+ or A- probably)
H Trig (B+ probably, though maybe an A-)</p>

<p>Extra-curricular activities:
-member of school chorus since 7th grade
-member of school GSA since 9th grade, board member (only leadership position available) from this year on
-founding member of a "hippie club"</p>

<p>Schools I'm Considering:
-Swarthmore (1st choice, i think)
-Oberlin (in my top 2- i haven't visited yet so it may compete with Swarthmore for my favorite)
-Vassar
-Reed
-NYU Abu Dhabi
-Hofstra and UMiami for safety schools</p>

<p>What do you think my chances are at these schools, and do you think I have a good range?</p>

<p>Oh, and I’ve also been involved in our drama program: I acted in a musical my freshman year and did sound crew for the musical my sophomore year. This year and next year, I’m planning on doing sound crew again, probably only once a year (my school puts on 4 major performances a year, but i only have time to do it every so often)</p>

<p>I’d say you would probably get into Oberlin, but Swarthmore may be a bit of a reach. It’s such a tough school to get into (my friend got into Harvard/U of C/Penn and got rejected at Swat). When you take your SAT, I would definitely aim for a 2200+, and try and get your grades up a little bit.

<p>i think you got a good chance at both of them. i mean, your sat score should be good and if you’re in top 10%, you should get into everything except possibly swarthmore. get straight a’s this year and try to add a signifcant ec activity to up your resume</p>
