I will be visiting CMU in the near future. I have scheduled a campus tour, information session, and interview with Admissions officer.

I know my Extracurriculars are a bit dry/cliche. But do I have a decent shot at ED?

Yes, I think you have a good shot but my opinion matters very little. It’s all about what happens with the adcoms.

What I have garnered is that CMU cares very very much about interest. So do everything you can to show interest. Go to all info sessions in your area, and in your school. Talk to the presenters. Ask good questions. Go to their website a lot. Do the interview. Apply ED. Tour campus. Yup, everything.

Their Why CMU is really important too. Spend time crafting it.

I hope that you do not need fin aid. CMU is very very picky about who they give merit to and their fin aid formula is very stingy. Make sure your parents realize the cost.

My S is a Class of 2016 graduate. Applied ED and did everything he could to show interest.

Yea I’ll definitely make sure to ask questions that show my interest. Thanks for the advice!
