You’re extracurriculars are “weak” according to what most people say on this website, however, your GPA is good and your ACT is also pretty good for the schools you’re interested in.

University of Texas, Austin- low reach
Texas A&M- match
TCU- match
Rice- anywhere from reach to high reach (depends mostly on essays, interviews, etc.)
Baylor- low reach/match (ACT scores are slightly above majority of applicants)
S. Methodist- low reach
Trinity- match

Other schools that would be fits: Clemson, BYU, Rhodes College, TSU

I know my stats aren’t amazing, and I’m freaking out a little! I’m hoping music will help me out, but academics are super important! Please help me out! I’ll chance back!

@castle027 thank you so much for your response!

Are you a Texas resident? If so, what is your class rank?

One of my parents recently moved to texas (that’s the main reason why I made this post - I don’t know a lot about the schools!), so I will be considered a resident when I apply. I am currently in the top 11%, but I should be in the top 10% at the end of this year!

your GPA is incredible. You have a great shot at all of the schools listed, but your ACT is probably a bit low for Rice. Also, for UT, it helps if you go to a larger high school. The way they accept applicants is pretty unfair to those at smaller schools, in my opinion. You have a really good chance at all of these schools. Rice still might be a bit of a stretch. Sounds like you still have time to retake your ACT, though. That’s what I’m doing. I have a 30 composite as well. My gpa is a bit lower than yours and I’d really like to go to Rice :(

Your ACT is good for the other schools though!!!

TAMU: Low match/Match
UT-Austin: High match
Rice: Reach
Baylor: Safety
SMU: Low match
TCU: Low match
Trinity University: Safety
Trinity College: High match
