I would say safety. Manufacturing engineering is the easiest major at cal poly with an 80 something percent acceptance rate.

I would not call CP a safety for any major, even one with 80% acceptance rate. It’s probably a match, but without a full MCA and really without knowing the competition, it’s hard to call anything there a guarantee, which is part of the definition of a safety school. It could be like WPI where the acceptance rate is high, but due to the nature of the school, applicants are skewed. Their averages for GPA and SAT/ACT are high for a school that accepts more than 50%. It’s simply because it isn’t super well known and the applicant pool is small, albeit qualified.
