Georgia Tech, UGA, Emory, and KSU: I think your chances of admission are good at these colleges. If you are a GA resident, they are also good financial choices.

Stanford and Cal tech: with <5% admissions, is as good a guess as anything else. You have good enough credentials to throw your hat into the ring, so long as you have more realistic options, and you do. It isn’t that are not good enough to be considered to be admitted, it is that admissions is so competitive, many qualified applicants are turned down.

^ Right, I totally understand the situation with Stanford and Cal Tech, that’s why my main thoughts right now are mostly either Emory or GT, then if for some reason I don’t get into either UGA or KSU. Georgia Tech’s admissions were pretty competitive this year or so I heard so that’s why I’m a little scared about that, and I do live in georgia.

Cal Tech: Almost no chance
Stanford: High Reach
Emory: Okay chance

^ Why only an Okay chance for emory? I feel as though my credentials fit in pretty well with the general admissions of that school but I don’t know. Also how does GT sound with what I have?

What complicates the chancing here is the admissions statistics for the schools. You are in range, but they have more qualified applicants than there are spaces. So your chance for Emory is “okay” or probably, because that is the best one can do with a guess like this. One can say that your chances for admission are higher at KS than at Emory, becuase you are at the higher range of applicants who are accepted to KS and admissions is less competitive. Howver, at the more selective colleges, the range of admitted students is all at the high end.

Your chances at Stanford and Cal Tech are low because everyone’s chances are affected by their admission statistics. This doesn’t mean not to try, just not to assume admission.

You actually have a nice range of choices: Extremely high selectivity - Stanford. Cal Tech. Then a range from highly selective to somewhat selective: Emory, GT, UGA, KS. And with the Hope scholarship, some of your choices are a good value.

Wait why’s your GPA 3.93 if you got all A’s? Did you get A’s and A-'s? Cause my school does the thing where an A- is a 3.5 which sucks…
And fellow junior here! I also want to apply to Emory despite my parents thinking that there’s nothing special about it lol

Chances:
Emory and Georgia Tech: match
Stanford and CalTech: high reaches
UGA: pretty sure safety

Don’t know much about the other schools… My friend got into Georgia tech last year and I’d say your stats are comparable or even higher.

Freshman year I got 2 B’s, One was in my math class, because I was homeschooled before I went into highschool, my foundation wasn’t great and I struggled, and my second B was in a marketing elective because I simply didn’t put in the effort which was stupid of me. Since then, no B’s.
