Chance Me | For the Ivy League Schools

I'm a junior in high school and would like my chances for any of the ivy league- where do you think I have the best chance of getting in? I feel like I'm just like every other applicant [maybe even below], and I know I'll need to stand out.
I know I am missing some stuff because junior year isn't over, but for now, what do you think.
ALSO, any advice as to how to make myself a stronger applicant/student so I'm ready to apply with a decent shot to some of these schools? What about myself should I highlight when I apply?
Thank you so much for reading~

I’d say you stand a fair chance at the Ivies. Cornell and Brown are the easiest to get into depending what program you go into (for example, Cornell Engineering School has a 7% acceptance rate which is lower than the school’s average acceptance rate). Your ACT score is good and your GPA is fantastic. Your ECs are diverse but focused on a few core areas (like music, MUN, and community service) which Universities LOVE to see. You are doing so well that I don’t have very much advice to give you except make sure that your recs and essays are strong! Oh, and make sure to apply ED to your top choice school-it increases your chances by a fair amount (different for each school)

Harvard: Reach/High reach (but it’s a reach for everyone so that doesn’t say much)
Princeton: Reach/High reach (same thing as Harvard)
Yale: Reach
Columbia: Reach/High reach (very, very low acceptance rate)
Dartmouth: Reach
Cornell: Low Reach
Brown: Low Reach

Thank you so much, I appreciate you taking a look and giving me advice!
I’m particularly interested in Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth and Brown.

If anyone else has an idea of my chances, please let me know! Also, I love constructive criticism on things I can do better/should highlight about myself when I go into the college application process~

Harvard: High Reach (this school is always a high reach)
Princeton: medium reach (this school is usually a high reach, but with your scores and grades you have a better chance than most.
Yale: Reach
Columbia: Reach
Dartmouth: Low Reach
Cornell: Low Reach
Brown: Low Reach

All Ivies are a reach, but I think you could get into at least one of them.

Hi! Thanks for chancing me! Our academic stats are very comparable so I’ll assess you primarily from an extracurricular standpoint considering I’m not too sure of my own chances haha. As a lead clarinetist and a show equestrian jumper, along with some Model UN involvement, there’s no doubt you have strong activities and even some substance for college essays (should you choose to write about those). However, I’m going to take a bit of a leap and say that, considering your equestrian involvement, you might be from a wealthier or rural area- where I’d assume school status and reputation alone are important. I’m also extrapolating upon this due to the fact you just said you’d like to be chance’d for the ivies- 8 incredibly strong yet academically deviating schools. I don’t mean to be harsh in that opinion but regardless, ivy is an umbrella statement.

If you’re merely seeing how you’d fare with regard to schools of ivy-caliber acceptance rates, I’d assume you have an overall good chance; by that, I mean if you were to apply to 10 ivy-caliber schools, I would see you getting into three or maybe four (higher chances than most). However, on the upper end of that scale (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford), I’d say you need a hook of some form to get in.

Very strong applicant nonetheless. Thanks again for chancing me!

Ivies are a reach for everyone.

I don’t think you will get in any of those… I am sorry… You should apply also to some Community Colleges just in case you don’t get in your in-state college. Happy thoughts!

Should we include schools like Stanford, MIT, UChicago, Duke as well?

Cornell and Brown low reaches. Rest reahces

@bradybest That would be awesome! I’m sort of using all of this as a way to build/refine my college list, as I do not want to apply to all the Ivies/schools of equal caliber. My heart’s leaning towards Yale, Brown, Dartmouth, and Stanford, but I also love UChicago, and have yet to visit Duke. So it’d be great if you could ‘chance’ me on those schools too (probably not MIT though).

Thanks to everyone that responded!

I’d also love advice as to how to make myself a stronger applicant based on what I have now~

As you already know, the standardized math is low for Ivys/MIT/Stanford. Consider some “Little Ivys”. From the normal perspective, you’re pretty awesome.

Is that chamber orchestra a professional chamber orchestra, or a school orchestra?

Well, if you want to make yourself better, take the SAT and do extremely well (like 2300 or above). Also, do well on your SAT 2’s. Also, write stellar essays. Your EC’s are great, so just continue them.

All Ivies are reaches, but it is very nice how your extracurriculars look like they follow a certain theme. Your ACT score is an average Ivy score, but just keep in mind that many of the well-qualified still won’t be accepted. Do well on your SAT IIs, and maybe take the SAT I if you think it will benefit you. Your ECs will definitely give you a boost!
