i really messed up in 9th and 10th, and so my weighed GPA will be a 3.3 :(
but I am not stupid, and got a 2300 on the SAT.

I just didn't care about anything those years, and in 10th I got involved with extremely heavy drugs and alchohol, got into fights, etc. But then, when I saw Princeton, I realised what a dream come true it would be to attend such an amazing school, and so I got straight As in 11th and 12th, and had 3 honors courses each year. but I see people applying with GPAs above 4.0s..(how does that work?) and high SAT scores too. ..:/.. I know that the ivys, expecially princeton, want to see a lot of involvement in activities. so i joined all of the clubs at my school (I despised staying after school for them, but I stuck by it for Princeton! :)) should i mention that in my essay?

paintball club
jv track and basketball
chess club
french club
book club
music enthusiast club
science olympiads
national honor society (12th)
key club
anime club

:)
so chance me for
harvard
princeton
yale
columbia
upenn
dartmith
cornell
brown
and any others you think I might get into! thanks.

This is going to sound bad, but I think all of those schools are going to be really hard for you to get into. Most people applying for ivy league schools have at least a 4.0 uw GPA and 2300+ SAT scores. Joining a bunch of random clubs does not help that much. Also, DON’T mention in your essay joining clubs just to get into Princeton. Colleges look for passion and commitment and do not like that people join clubs just for their applications.

Your better off at Princeton than some of the other ones. Princeton does not look at freshman year. Explain in your essay how your visit to Princeton affected your life in your essay. You have a very good shot because of yours SAT’s and extreme upward trend.

Great SAT score. Your course load isn’t rigorous enough though. 6 honors with no AP’s isn’t rigorous enough for Ivy League schools. Also, you are competing with people who have won Intel awards, published in journals, over 400 hours of community service, performed at Carnegie Hall, Kimmel Center, etc. You have a shot at NYU though. Write a good essay (but DO NOT mention joining clubs for college).

@OP: TBH, I don’t see much hope for you. Though your SAT score is high, your gpa is low and your activities show no real passion. What colleges look for isn’t just involvement, it’s passion, and you don’t show that. Sorry.

Colleges actually favor students with high GPA’s and low SAT scores over students with low GPA’s and high SAT scores. :/

But the Ivy leagues are overrated anyways. Aside from the beautiful campuses, high-rated programs, and the prestige, there is nothing other colleges can’t offer that Ivies can. Besides, I personally would want to go to a school in which I’m at the top of my class, not the bottom.

But you should still apply. If you don’t get in, it’s literally not a big deal.
