Chance me for the top universities?

Thanks a lot for your response! I really hope I can get into one of those top schools!

I will agree with silogram, you’ve definitely got a great shot with solid ec’s and well rounded scores! I think you’ve got a solid mid reach school in Stanford but as always, ivies are crapshoots, but definitely a great shot!
Keep up the good work!

Thank you!

You seem to be involved in many different things which is great, but many schools like to see students who are passionate and deeply involved in one thing rather than semi involved in many things. for you this passion seems to be helping others and doing charity work, so you should highlight that in your applications. other than that you have good stats. just remember though that, basically everyone who applies to ivies have good stats as well, so you’ll definitely be up there with the other candidates but it might just come down to chance whether you get in or not. in the end though im sure you’ll get into at least one, probably more, of the schools you mentioned above. good luck.

@TheJohnhippie: You seem to be uninformed. Not all ivys are created equal…I would say only Harvard truly comes close to Stanford as a crapshoot. Princeton/Yale less so… but, ivy schools like Penn, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell don’t come close to MIT or Chicago or Caltech and maybe even Duke…

…don’t go with outdated and archaic misinformation. See below:

Xc2013, so you do think that it’s a negative that I am involved in breast cancer research and international relations as well? Should I drop one of them?

@gravitas2 thanks! I don’t want to lead anyone astray, sorry about that Achilles09, I’m still a noob

Haha lol it’s fine johnhippie

Achilles09, im not saying its a bad thing, and I don’t think you should drop one of them. I just mean that you should focus on one area, get deeply involved, and show a lot of passion for it, and then emphasize that passion in your application.

Ok that makes sense thanks a lot!

Harvard: Reach
Columbia: Reach
Stanford: Reach
Georgetown: Low Reach
Brown: Low Reach
Cornell: Low Reach
Vanderbilt: High Match/ Low Reach
Johns Hopkins: High Match/ Low Reach
Swarthmore: Low Reach

I’d advise that you pick at least one match/ safety, for your own sake. Although I am pretty sure you’ll get into multiple on your list, it is still a really good idea to have some safeties.

With that said, there is nothing more you can do than write great essays. Your stats are competitive, so it is just a matter of seeing how things play out.

Ok, thanks a lot for taking your time to chance me

Because I have extracurriculars that show passion for both International Relations and Medicine, can I say that I want to double majo in both?

Can anyone answer my question?

Well, Achilles, Medicine isn’t a major, but rather biology, chem, etc are common majors of pre-meds. However, you can double major in a pre-med major and international relations, or major in International Relations while taking pre-med courses (en route to medical school). I’d like to add that your credentials are fantastic, you’ve got a great shot anywhere. In fact, Hopkins, Georgetown, and Vandy are all definite matches. Good luck! And chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1518818-chance-me-top-universities-low-income-urm.html

All of these colleges are reaches for anyone but then again in the society that we live in many kids who deserve to go to these colleges dont get accepted and thats just the way it is but in my opinion Harvard is missing out if they dont accept you

i’d say you are definitely a contender for ED columbia! you have a high chance of making it imo. you are interesting and you make me want to get to know you. i dont know much about the other schools, so i’d be giving inaccurate measures.

i am applying to columbia too! if you have time, i would appreciate a chance back

if you are low income, how are you going to pay for columbia? i am low income as well, and my family has convinced me not to apply ED because it is binding and you cannot petition your finaid package.

@Kwozy15, yeah I’m sorry I have no idea I said I want to major in medicine! I meant molecular biology my bad haha!

And I’ll definitely chance you guys back thanks a lot for your input!

@Nutellago, I’ve been thinking about applying ED but I have not finalized it yet. I live with my mom, so I was hoping that I can submit financial aid because her income only since I reside with her. But I was
hoping my dad would help me pay some for college; Im not sure though if that’s feasible. Otherwise I would take a loan, I know some very generous people
that wouldn’t put time constraint on returning their money, though it’s not too smart either to be burdened with a gigantic loan. I’m not too well informed about all this, so I was going to research more. Thanks a lot for informing me about that, maybe now I’ll think about applying RD!

“my family has convinced me not to apply ED because it is binding and you cannot petition your finaid package”

If you apply ED asking for FA you’ll get an offer with acceptance. If it’s not enough you decline the offer and apply RD elsewhere.
