Hey there, already posted my stats in the official thread, but it was looking pretty inactive. Just wanted to get some more opinions.

Applying to UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCD, UCI, UCSB

Transfer Method: CCC to UC

Major: Biochemistry
Overall GPA: 3.97
Major GPA: 3.93 ( Got a B+ in Calc 1 first semester, was actually my only grade that wasn't an A)

Pre-reqs: All complete for all colleges, along with IGETC

EC: Shadowed two physicians for quite a while during summer and winter break. MESA officer, treasurer. Part of SETA. About 300+ hours doing community service at local hospital. Internship at said hospital the summer after. Science department award, English department award. Some tutoring for Physics/Calc. There's some other stuff as well that I can't recall.

Question, how much will that B+ in Calc 1 hurt me? I'm really terrified that it'll bring down the entire application since I've heard many people say that even getting one B in a pre-req class is the death sentence. However, I did get an A in Calc 2 if that helps.

Oh god, I almost forgot that my GPA was calculated with the assumption that I would get straight As this upcoming spring semester. Do you even calculate your GPA with the spring classes prior to acceptance? I’m not sure if the UCs even take them into account.

Total GPA for first three semesters (no spring semester): 3.935
Major GPA: 3.9255 (without the expected A in the prereq class in spring)

This is all from one B+, and the rest A’s. (One A-) I really hope the spring semester does play some role in the GPA, since I still have one prereq that I need to finish during that time.

UCs will take into account all grades up until the end of fall quarter or fall semester for admissions purposes. You still look like you have a great chance at getting in, especially from the internship and your grades. UCLA and UCB’s biological sciences departments are always crazy impacted and there’s probably people who are rejected with 4.0s (but might have no extracurriculars) but as for the rest of the UCs, I wouldn’t worry about it at all. The only 2 schools that u have even a smal chance at being rejected are pretty much UCB and UCLA.
