<p>Hi! I'm applying to UCLA, CAL, UCSD, UCD, UCSB, UCI, UCSC, UCR, UCM. I am also applying to Santa Clara University, USC, Boston University, Pepperdine and Chapman university. </p>

<p>Major: english (got straight A's in all my english classes in high school)</p>

<p>uw gpa (9-12): 3.58
w gpa (9-12): 3.79
uw gpa (10-12): 3.68
w gpa (10-12): 3.90
UC GPA: 3.84 </p>

<p>My gpa isn't that great but I've been improving since freshmen year! Junior year I even got a uw 4.0 both semesters! I also took a college course at the local community college last summer and got an A. </p>

<p>ACT: 25 (30 english, 28 reading, 22 math, 21 science) and a 8 for the essay.
I retook them last week and I feel like it went better! I think I got around a 27
My SATs and subject tests were really bad so I didn't send them in.</p>

<p>EC:
8 years ballet (participate in many shows and competitions. we've traveled around california for performances)
5 years jazz dance (performance team)
school dance team since freshmen year. co-captain senior year.
4 years tennis team. jv co-captain sophomore year. varsity junior and senior year
Senior staff writer for school newspaper (I also applied and got in Junior year but did not have time because of the divorce)
Secretary of Invisible Children Club and member of Key Club.
Around 300 volunteer hours (worked at clinic, worked with children, helped at a old people's home)
I also babysit (like every week).</p>

<p>Essays: really good. My English teacher said it was one of the best she's ever read.
Recs: excellent!
Counselor Rec: good
Hooks: Hispanic female (parents are Argentine) and divorced parents.
I am a Californian resident too. </p>

<p>I’d say your GPA is quite solid but definitely lacking for UCSD, UCB, and UCLA. It’s borderline/low percentile for UCI and UCD. If you want better chances at the mid tiered UCs, you MUST raise your ACT and or SAT scores. You need about a 28 or an 1800+ for descent chances.</p>

<p>you have a lot of good ecs so i think you’ll have a better chance at a UC than a private school. i think all of the schools you’re applying to except ucla, cal, and usc are going to be good targets for you. your act score is really low, so try to get your act score up if you have the chance! my counselor is a ucla reader for admissions and there’s a category for like “improved throughout high school” or whatever. that should be a plus, and if you included why/how you improved in your application, that would be even better. good luck with getting in and thanks for chancing mine!
