I think you will get into UMichigan but you know , Stanford is a reach for everyone.

Great stats! You should get into UM. Not sure about Stanford because I am not sure what all they look for. My thoughts are that when you live far from a school, they are less likely to take you unless you have phenominal stats or some unique talent/sports ability. I think this simply because schools like Harvard, Stanford, Yale, etc. likely receive so many applications from across the globe, and they likely are from folks who just want to see if they can get in (bragging rights), but are not seriously going there (due to cost or distance). Yes, they say they would go there, but likely the school’s stats are proof that many of those far away folks never actually come. So why should they take a chance on accepting someone so far away when they have equal or greater candidates closer to them and likely ones more apt to attend? They do accept some folks from far, far away…but not as many. Out of state tuition is the same money for the school coming from a closer state than a farther away one… Remember, schools want to accept people that they feel confident will do well there AND go there. I think you have to convince them that you would actually go there. So, if that’s where you really, really want to go, I wish you luck. You’ll have to do a good job selling yourself on your STATS as well as the likelihood of your attendance.
