Thanks for your help in advance. =)

oh yeah and my ranking is (101/825)…very competitive and big school
my total gpa is 3.85 and 10-12 is 3.73

Things that may lead you to a decline: Asian nationality, pre-med major (in high demand), not in top 10% of class, a 3 in a science AP when you are going to focus on health/science in college.

Johns Hopkins, Duke, Northwestern, Tufts, and Emory will still be tough and you should apply to multiple colleges in this group because some will inevitably decline you.

Based on statistics, close to 100% of kids at the UC schools are in the top 10% in their classes. Dunno if that will affect your chances.

I heard from several people that ap tests don’t really factor into someone’s admission process and that it is only used to determine what credits a student will or will not get. Is that wrong? If ap tests do really count, could I make it up with a high sat 2 score in chemistry? As for my class rank and gpa, I also heard that they look at which classes a student received B’s in. Since two of my B’s come from spanish, a subject not really used for premed would that help me at all?

Holy Cross has great pre-med with new science building and strong medical alumni. Holy Cross has nice campus 1 hour from Boston. HC is a Jesuit school like Boston College…

Oh yeah I researched that college too but forgot to add on to the list. How about the questions I post above though. Does chem ap score really hurt your application if I can bring my sat 2 chem score to like 780+? And also even though my rankings were low, that ranking is unweighted…I’m positive my ranking would be higher if it were weighted. But my question is even if I have 5 B’s 2 of them were from spanish and since that class is not really essential to premed major would that help me out?

Holy Cross also has a joint pre-med program with Tufts Med School. During your Sophomore year, I believe, you can apply early admission to Tufts, but it is pretty tough to get in. It is almost only based on college performance, though. Give that one a thought.

anyone else?

me and you are in teh same boat buddy. i will have taken 11 aps by the end of senior year but your extracurriculars are slightly better than mine. Our problem is that there are thousands of other individuals who have a resume similar to ours. Especially in a competitive field, all we can do is attempt to make ourselves stick out and hope for the best. Hope we get into good colleges!
