<p>Hi, new member here at CC...</p>

<p>I'm a chinese male, senior in Maryland</p>

<p>GPA: 3.98/4.0 (unweighted) (Not at a very competitive high school, but in a county where three high schools are ranked in the top 100 by US News)
SATS: CR-690, M-750, W-800 (2240)
SAT IIs: Math II-790, Chem-800, Chinese-760
APs: Chem-5, World History-5, Calc BC-5, Eng Lang-5, Comp Sci A-4
I'm taking AP English Lit, AP Physics C, AP Statistics, AP Comparative Politics
Taking pretty much the most rigorous classes at my school
not sure about exact rank, but I'd say i'm in top 5% in my class</p>

Internship at National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), research on Human Computer Interaction
Chess Team at my school for 2 years, placed first at the USCF national high school championships in atlanta this spring in my division
Member of:
-National Honors Society

-Volunteered for local library for two summers</p>

<p>I'd say your chances at CMU are probably good. Other schools I can't really comment on.</p>

<p>You have an impressive resume. </p>

<p>I'd say you have a good shot at all except MIT - if think they're looking for the "wow" factor... students who jump off the page, think outside the box, or have broken barriers.</p>

<p>Yeah, I realize that MIT doesn't really care much about your grades and scores (to a reasonable degree), and I hope that in my interview I really conveyed that I was more than just those. I had an hour long interview with him on various topics, ranging from my travels to my tastes in music. I really hope that the interview makes the difference, since now that I look at my app, there isn't too much unique about it.</p>

<p>so i got deferred from MIT EA...probably because i barely talked about my research at NIST</p>
