Hi! My scores for my sat just came in and so here's what I have so far:
total unweighted gpa:3.6
total weighted gpa:3.9
act composite 24(english 28, math 24, reading 22, science 20, writing 7)
sat 1 composite 1710(critical reading 590, Math 570, Writing 550)

I want to major in Electrical Engineering with a minor in business. Or perhaps double major?
I've been hearing mixed answers left and right about being able to make it in and being rejected. Here are the schools I will apply to:

Cal Poly SLO ( Early Decision)
San Jose State University
San Diego State University
Cal Poly Pomona
Cal State Long Beach
Cal State Fullerton

My target school is Cal Poly SLO. I'm taking engineering courses at my high school that aren't offered to any other high school in California. Ive taken 3 AP classes last year and am taking 3 this year. I would really appreciate it if someone who goes to a csu would chance me and perhaps give some tips. Thank you!

Well, SLO is a slight reach school, I am sorry to put it… You have a nice gpa and cource rigor, but Im sorry to say that your ACT scores are far below average. A 24 ACT is very low for SLO engineering which is a 31 (will be higher this year though). I really hope you get in and I hope to see you there! (I am also applying ED)
SJSU = safety
SDSU = match
Pomona = match
SLO = reach
CSU Fullerton = safety
try UCR or UCIrvine

Thanks a lot for chancing. But yeah, unfortunately i wont be able to apply ED for SLO. I wish you luck in getting in there! I guess I’m not too down because I’ve been hearing that Cal Poly Pomona is actually ranked higher than SLO? I don’t know, need to do more research. But I’d be stoked if it were true :P

ahhh, no Pomona is not ranked higher than SLO. SLO is ranked 7 and Pomona is far from it… But, please dont pick schools just on rank… it will not work out right. Please tell me that you have at least toured both campuses to see if you even like it instead of just refering on it is highly ranked. Dont get me wrong, though, Pomona is still a great school

You are below on both GPA and test scores. So it will be a high reach for you at SLO.

And echoing what was said earlier, SLO is ranked number 8 in the US for masters level engineering school. Pomona is quite a bit further down the list.

But I think you will have a strong chance of getting into Pomona.
