PLEASE CHANCE MEEE!!! I NEED THE FEEDBACK!

PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE CAN I HAVE SOME FEEDBACK!!!

While your academic stats aren’t the best, your EC’s look pretty good. This makes it a little bit difficult to say objectively where you might get accepted. Here’s my opinion on some of the ones you’ve listed:
Northwestern - high match/low reach
Duke(ED) - reach
Stanford - high reach
UNC Chapel Hill - match/high match
UC Berkeley - high match (I know several people that got in with lesser stats and ECs)
USC - match/high match
Cornell - reach
Johns Hopkins ( Sister and cousin went there) - low reach

Thanks!!As for academic stats, would higher SAT help? Would 2150 improve my chances a lot or should I try to go higher, as for APs, I have taken a fair amount compared to the average at my school. Does that help? Any other advice?

A higher SAT score will never hurt. 2150-2200 is a very good score that will be competitive everywhere. As for academics, your 4.41/5.00 weighted gpa seems low but I can’t really make a statement on it because it all depends on how you fit the context of your school. Your around 5% rank shows that you are one of the best in your class. Really, at this point there is not much you can control other than your SAT score. Focus on the essays and most important, dedicate your full attention to the supplements.

ok thanks very much!!! I appreciate your in depth feedback.

What’s your UW GPA? Your UC GPA? Berkeley’s CoE is much harder to get into than L&S or CoC, especially for OOS students. If you can get that 2150 SAT score, your chances at all the colleges would improve greatly. You should try and add some safeties to that list.

my unweighted GPA is pretty high because I have never gotten lower then an A- ( Only two out of all 3 years so far). What safeties would you recommend? As for SAT, I will definitely get a higher SAT score because I am taking it again in october and I took a review course over the summer and have already gotten a 2100 on practice tests.

Are you in-state for Berkeley or UNC. UNC is exceedingly competitive for out-of-state applicants. You should not base your list on hoped-for scores. If you get the scores you want, then add one or two reaches, but almost every school on your list right now is a reach, and the odds are against your scores rising that much. I’d say that BU and Bucknell are the only colleges on your list that aren’t huge reaches with your current stats.

@Random159 What sort of atmosphere are you looking for? Choose your safeties based off of what they have to offer–decent programs in your major area, atmosphere, location…

I am looking for warmer weather, sort of urban. I am looking for schools with engineering but also strong science just in case I change my mind @topaz1116

@woogzmama As for scores rising, I am very good at learning how to take tests. I started at like a 163 on the psat and am already at a 1910 on the sat so I have a feeling that I will continue to improve seeing as I have in the past. I learned a lot in my review class and have consistently scored in the 2090 range for practice tests, gradually improving. The 1910 was from not studying or knowing what to expect at all. It was my baseline. Also, schools aren’t just looking for robots who can take standardized tests. It definitely helps, but I think my ECS and essays will be in my favor, as well as my well rounded resume. All schools are reaches for qualified applicants when it comes to ones like Stanford and duke and brown etc. But I do appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

I recommend Tulane. You have a very good chance of admission with your existing stats, and a jump in test scores would give you an excellent shot at a large scholarship. You should also consider some other UCs, if you are already looking at Berkeley. I think your GPA is competitive at most of them, but the Engineering schools are extremely competitive. I know that 100+ score increases are possible - both of my sons had them, but it’s just important for students not to place all their hopes on such an improvement. Every student who retakes the tests hopes to raise his or her scores. Fifty-five percent do, according to the College Board (who have an obvious, vested interest in encouraging students to re-test), but the majority of those increases are less than fifty points.

P.S. - Tulane has a free application, with non-binding Early Action, and so there is nothing to lose in applying, and it might ease your mind to have a good offer under your belt by Thanksgiving.

ok thanks! I will look into it.

How about Clemson? It would be a match for you, and fits some of your requirements. A friend’s son is entering his senior year there as an Engineering major, and has loved it so much that his younger sister just joined him. There is a lot of school spirit there, although it isn’t very urban. You shouldn’t have much trouble getting into UC Santa Cruz - they have advantage of proximity to Silicon Valley, and aren’t too far from San Francisco. Maybe SMU, also?

Northwestern - high match/low reach
Duke(ED) - reach
Stanford - high reach
UNC Chapel Hill - low reach
UC Berkeley - reach
USC - match/high match
Cornell - reach
Johns Hopkins ( Sister and cousin went there) - reach

1910/2150

Northwestern Reach/low eeach
Duke(ED) Reach/Reach
Stanford Super high reach/High reach
Boston university low match/safety (people in my school get in with ~1650)
Tufts- reach/High match
Bucknell- low reach/ High match
Emory- reach/low reach
UNC Chapel Hill- oos reach/ oos low reach
UC Berkeley- oos low reach/ oos high match
USC- reach/ low reach
Cornell- reqch
Johns Hopkins

Good luck! And chance me back? Thanks

unless you got your score to 2200+
most of them are reaches… i would say the safest bet would be USC and boston U
