I’m currently a high school senior, very nervous about my acceptances, whether I’ll be going away for college, etc.
I live in Queens, and applied to a few City universities as safety schools - but I’m really hoping to go away. I applied to Stony Brook, Binghamton, Postdam, Oswego, and New Paltz.
But I’ve been worried about my chances because I have a pretty low GPA. It comes out to a 79%, or a 2.4. Throughout high school I found my classes to be boring and as a result, ended up slacking off a lot. I have a habit of being lazy and procrastinating.
However, my application might look good in other ways. I’m a lead guitarist of a band and we’ve played several fundraisers, TV shows, etc. I have other strong extracurriculars like volunteering at a local library.
My SAT score is a 1900 (730 reading, 530 math, 640 writing). I’ve also taken 3 AP classes so far - while my grades in the actual classes were up and down, on the tests, I scored two fives (Psychology and English Language) and a four (US History). I’m taking my fourth AP (English Literature) this year.
What do you guys think my chances are of getting into the aforementioned schools?
