<p>I'm about to be a senior, starting to narrow down my list of colleges to which I plan on applying. Looking at many top schools, possibly including HYP. Hopefully pre-med. Help me out and be realistic? =] I'll chance anyone who chances me and would like the favor returned. Thanks!</p>

GPA: 4.00 UW, 4.18 W
Current Rank: 1/260
PSAT: 208 (bleh)
SAT: 2340 (800 M, 770 CR, 770 W - 8 essay) - single sitting
SAT II: US History - 750, Chemistry - 770; taking Math II & Lit in fall, shooting for 800 on Math
ACT: Taking in Sept., shooting for 34+ or won't include
AP: US History, American Government, & Chemistry - Predicting 4s/5s
IB: Not offered</p>

<p>Awards: National Merit Commended Scholar, Smattering of science & writing awards..not really major:
3rd place in national short story contest
6th place team in national engineering competition
Team placed in statewide Science Olympiad competition (not disclosing exact rank, but very good)
3rd place in statewide creative writing competition (this was at the end of 8th grade...is that okay?)
Cleveland Technical Societies Council Honor Junior
1st place in local creative writing contest
1st place in local essay contest</p>

<p>Your GPA is fantastic, as is your SAT score. It looks like you have some good ECs, but without further info it’s hard to say more than that.</p>

<p>Harvard, Yale, and Stanford are crapshoots, but your scores indicate you do have a chance if you really shine in your essay and recs. Otherwise…</p>

<p>Your application looks solid, almost as good as it can get; your ECs are great. Only thing I could see going against you is that you’re Asian (I know, I’m asian too, and I hate how it goes against us in apps), and the fact that your W GPA is a bit low. Did you take a rigorous courseload with the most APs and honors your school offers? Because that could be critical. If you just took easy regular classes while you could have taken plenty of APs and honors, high-tier colleges will hold that against you. If not, then no worries. </p>

<p>Excellent rank, SAT score, SAT II’s. Your extracurriculars are good, but they’re pretty standard. I think you’re the typical high-scoring, overachieving student, so it’ll come down to your essays/luck. You’re probably in at Cornell and WashU, not so sure about the rest, but you have a good shot! </p>

<p>Nice! Dude I’m jealous. You’ll hold your own academics-wise with all the other applicants, I think, but as the previous posters said, you need a good essay/recs/etc to stand out. </p>

<p>You have a GREAT SAT score and of course your GPA is perfect :stuck_out_tongue: The other thing is that your ECs jump out!! Big time!! Which gives you a HUGE edge in the pool, having all these national/state awards is a biiiggg plus for you
Low/mid reach at HYPMS, with high match if you apply ED to any of those places.

<p>you should be fine for everything except harvard yale stanford? but they’re always really selective.<br>
osu + case would be easy for you to get in (in my nonprofessional opinion :P)

<p>I think academically you fit the bill for all these schools, and your EC’s are pretty strong too. I’d say with good essays, recs, etc, your chances look like this:</p>
