Columbia - Reach (as it is for everyone, but were it not for such intense competition, I’d say you have a great shot)

You lucky CA resident, you! Out of curiosity, is any one of these schools a particular favorite of yours? I think it’s likely that you’ll get into at least one of the first six on your list. And woo linguistics!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/591430-wanna-play-my-college-picks.html</a></p>

umm…well I’d definitely say UPenn (probably Wharton) and Columbia are what I’m looking most into as of now. I’m really into diversity so I do want to be near a big city.

For Georgetown, i’d consider the foreign affairs school.

Other than that, Harvard, Yale, and Stanford are longshots, but if i was admitted…well, i don’t know. it’s hard to turn down those schools haha.

I’m hoping I can use my UCs as backups, but they are great schools nonetheless!

Well if it’s Wharton then UPenn is a reach

FYI the W GPA maximum is 5.0 at my school.
For Gtown…I’m looking at the foreign affairs school.
For UPenn…it would be great if everyone chanced me for Wharton and the regular college separately. thanks!

Ah, my chance was for Wharton because for some reason, I thought I had read that you were applying there. Wharton’s a reach, regular UPenn is more of a match. But, as I stated above, Wharton’s not an impossible reach. It’s simply a reach because of intense competition.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/583276-chances-universal-rejection.html</a></p>

Columbia: low reach
U Penn: high match-low reach
Yale: crazy reach
Harvard: reachiiiiie.
Stanford: reachiiie…
Georgetown: good chance, probably high match
Brown: low reach
Cornell: low reach-high match
Dartmouth: low reach-high reach
Northwestern: match-high match
NYU: match
USC: match
UC Berkeley: woudn’t be too sure, they can get quite demanding, especially w/ the economic downturn, probably will receive more applications.
UC Los Angeles: match
UC San Diego: match
UC Santa Barbara: safety

With a 1500/1600 SAT I & an ACT score of 33, you are academically qualified for all of your listed schools.
You should be admitted to all four UCs.
Penn’s Wharton School is a low reach.
Yale is a reach, and you are not likely to be admitted based on the info. in your post.
Columbia is a low reach.
Harvard is unlikely.
Stanford is a reach.
Georgetown SFS is a match.
Brown is a low reach.
Cornell is a match.
Dartmouth is a match.
Northwestern is a match if you apply ED, otherwise it is a low reach.

If you strongly preferred Penn, Northwestern, Columbia, then utilization of the ED option would have significantly increased your chances at these three schools.

In at NYU & USC.

Columbia - Low reach, just because it is an ivy
U Penn - I think you can get in here. high match. but idk much about the wharton school there…
Yale - another selective school. ummm. reach.
Harvard - Also reach. But they might fall in love with you because of your dedication to your ECs. So you could possibly get in here too also
Stanford - Also a reach.
Georgetown - High Match. I would give you a match for georgetown, but its too selective for anybody to really be considered a match for this. However, their emphasis on international relations makes you a candidate for this school. I’ve visited the campus, and I think you would love it here. I highly recommend that you go here, especially if you want to do international studies or foreign policy. so many opportunities…
Brown - Low reach/high match
Cornell - match
Dartmouth - match
Northwestern - high match
NYU - In
USC - In
UC Berkeley - match/high match
UC Los Angeles - match
UC San Diego- match
UC Santa Barbara - low match

Good luck! Definitely consider going to Georgetown. Your credentials and ECs tell me that you would love it there :)

Columbia: low reach
U Penn: high match
Yale: HIGH reach
Harvard: HIGH reach (for everyone)
Stanford: same as harvard
Georgetown: low reach
