I live in CA from a middle income family. Applied for financial aid.

I've been accepted to UCR, UCI, George Mason, St. Johns, Hofstra, Northern Arizona, Nebraska-Wesleyan.

I applied to Emory, Columbia, Yale, Georgetown (legacy - my brother goes there), Harvard, Brown, Cornell (School of Ecology) Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Berkeley, UCLA, Rice, Rensselaer Polytechnic, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, Barnard, NYU, UPenn, Vanderbilt, American, Bowdoin, and USC. Can you chance me for all these? Thanks. I will chance back.

I applied undecided everywhere except USC (psychology), Cornell (Nutritional Sciences), Barnard/Columbia/Georgetown: Neuroscience
Again thanks.

You will probably get into all those in your list, except Ivies. Nobody can chance you for the Ivies–sounds cliche, but true. I think you will definitely get into Cornell and Brown though.

i think you have a good shot at all those schools besides harvard, princeton, penn, and yale, because nobody has a guarenteed chance there, but you have a pretty solid application

please chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1465071-chance-me-colleges-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

Nevermind about Columbia. I got in.
What about the rest?

bump…

Having a sibling attend a school does not make you a legacy. Generally, you are only considered a legacy if either of your parents attended the school. Having said that, I don’t see you not getting into Georgetown, or really any of the schools on your list save HYP. You could get into all 3, one or two, or none. That is just how admission to those schools works. Your stats, as I’m sure you know, make you competitive at any school. Your EC’s, recs, essays, etc., will help you stand out. Unfortunately, at those schools, the majority of applicants have stats that are similar to yours, probably have other parts of their app that are similar, and are thus equally qualified. It is just a question of which from among an exceptional group the committee chooses to send the large envelope to. (JK most decisions now are sent electronically, but you get my drift.)

Are you at a level to play D1? If so, you have a pretty goOd chance at all. Otherwise, HYPS are reaches with the other ivies lower reaches. For the rest, they are matches.
Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1464800-chances-slightly-autistic-asian-girl.html</a></p>

I disagree with the above posts. You have a VERY good chance of getting in to the ivies, even Harvard. The ivies LOVE varsity sports, and especially since you have done 4 years AND you are the team captain, I am almost 100% sure you will get in. With your outstanding test scores and grades, I am surprised that the college coaches haven’t called you sent you recruit letters yet. My friend has 4 years of varsity golf and does not have nearly as good test scores and grades as you do, and the golf coach from Princeton University has already personally called him and asked him to join the team, with a scholarship.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1467849-college-chances-ucla-usc-ucsb-etc.html</a></p>

I have been recruited my alot of coaches, including the Georgetown soccer coach and Cornell but Im not sure I want to play soccer anymore on a high level. I’ve played with the u17 team as a junior and got an invitation for the u20 but it might be hard to balance both as a pre med student.

these people must be high haha…you have a perfect ACT , almost perfect SAT, really good ec’s…great gpa…honestly youll get into all of them haha…its just a matter of luck from here :D

WOW… Impressive, Non-ivies are definitely a low match/match, Harvard and yale would be a high match, the rest I would say are match/highmatch, just because their acceptance rate are very low and those choices are almost everyone’s top choice school. Please chance me back =] http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1463091-chances-getting-njit.html</a></p>

To call Harvard and Yale any type of match for anyone is somewhat ludicrous. Any school with a sub-6% acceptance rate is a reach no matter how high your SAT/ACT/GPA/talent/athletic achievement is. It is just the nature of the beast. Read the attached article (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/04/education/04colleges.html</a>), then look at the date it was published. 2007. Six years ago. Competition at elite schools is tougher now. I stand by my earlier comment that you could get into all or none of the HYP triumvirate. If you were being recruited to play soccer, that would give you an edge, but frankly, one, two, three sport athletes in high school are a dime a dozen and if you aren’t being recruited, you have no hook at these schools. I don’t mean to sound brutal, I am just being realistic. I have an acquaintance whose resume is strikingly similar to yours. Last year he applied to Georgetown, Michigan, Villanova, Notre Dame, and Boston College early and was accepted to all 5. He applied RD to HYP and Duke and was 0/4 with nary a waitlist spot offered. My advice would be to not get overly attached to the idea of any of these schools. With luck, and luck is what you need at this point, you will be posting good news on here in a few weeks!

^I second.

However you are in at Columbia. That is indeed awesome and great:D

@ejcclc i wouldn’t say reach… I would say high match for this person, this guy/girl got it in the bag, their stats are amazing, he/she just needs to nail the essay part, which they probably will since their writing score on the sat is 760+ Can i ask what’s your first choice @centennial13 ?

@shipsarecool I stand by my comments. HYP are reaches FOR EVERYONE. Not as reachy for some, but reaches nonetheless.

hmmm… well we’ll see, @centennia let us know ;]

Columbia is my first choice but I can’t afford it. Hopefully I can get into another prestigous school that offers me financial aid.

Thanks for the honesty everyone(:

Did you get your FA package already? I thought Columbia was full need?

I got it last week and I have to pay $47,000 out of 61,000. I thought they were full need but I really needed more money because my parents make 66,000. So the FA is ridiculous.
