What are my chances to Stanford, MIT, Cornell, Upenn, WashU, Northwestern?

Hi tomas0706,
For Ivy league schools, what will make you stand out is 1. your class ranking, 2. your essays and letters of rec, and 3. the quality of your ECs. For the schools you listed at the bottom, Cornell, WashU, and Northwestern may be low reaches, while Stanford and MIT are high reaches–as they are for anybody.

Things to consider: Will you be recruited for rowing by any of the schools? Are you considering entering the Siemens and Intel STS science competition in the fall of this year? (this is assuming you do scientific research. Disregard this, if you do not.) Are you willing–and do you think you are able to–raise your SAT I score to at least 2300?

All of this, if you answered “yes”, could help improve your chances.

Best of luck.
