Chance me for Top Schools!!!

Do I have a chance of getting in to my top schools?

Scores:
Act Composite- 30 (first try will take again)
Essay - 10
GPA - 4.15 W (Grades 10-12), 4.03 W (Grades 9-12), 3.72 UW (Grades 9-12)

Freshman year there were no Honors/AP classes available. Sophomore year I took the only two Honors/AP classes available and Junior year I am taking four. I expect to take AP Microeconomics, AP Gov, AP Stats, and Honors Spanish, AP Language, and Honors Physics for Senior year. Math has always been a a challenge for me to get As in and I get consistent Bs in those classes. All of the other subjects I get As, so I'm not sure how much a B in math would affect my chances of getting into a business school.

APs(so far): AP Euro - A, AP Psych - A, AP US History - A, AP Environmental Science - A, AP Lang - B
Honors/ Advanced - Honors Chemistry -B, Adv English 10 -A

Got a 3 on the AP Euro test :( . I probably wont record that score when applying to colleges. The rest of the AP tests I will be taking this spring.

Extracurriculars:

Played Soccer for 10 years and played for the highschool JV team.
Volunteer at my local museum where I give tours and run the cash register and help young students on schools projects (practice my public speaking skills as well as my money handling skills)
In the process of starting a school "Investment Club"
Have been actively participating in the stock market for over a year and have learned a lot
Going to take a summer Economics course at a local JC

I realize I am lacking in this area in number of activities, but I think it's important that the activities I do spend time on are relevant to my interests and major. Hopefully this focus of activities is looked upon in the same light as the applicants with many more, but diverse, activities

Clubs/Awards:

Young Republican Club
California Scholarship Federation
National Honors Society
Multiple Renaissance Awards throughout the school year for academic achievement
Teacher-Given Award for Hard Work and Effort (forget the name of it)
Investment Club (Founder)

Colleges I will be applying to:
USC
UC Berkeley
UCLA
Santa Clara
Cal Poly
Loyola Marymount
Northwestern
Boston College
Claremont Mckenna

Any responses would be helpful!

what are you majoring in? that changes your chances a lot

Business or Finance

Sorry :)

USC - reach
UC Berkeley - reach
UCLA - low reach
Santa Clara - high match
Cal Poly - match
Loyola Marymount - match
Northwestern - reach
Boston College - high match/low reach
Claremont Mckenna - reach

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1641982-chance-for-a-variety-of-schools.html#latest

I second vpat’s chances here. They all seem accurate.

Both GPA and ACT score are rather low for top schools.

What is your UC GPA?

UC GPA is 4.15

I think that is fairly good. You should have a competitive chances at the universities you applied to - however your ACT might be slightly low for some of them.

Thanks

I was very unprepared for my first ACT, but I’m taking it again after school gets out in June. Hopefully with adequate studying I can get 32+.

That would be a good score. Also, is there any room for improving your GPA, perhaps, to 3.8 or 3.85? That would help your chances increase somewhat.

Nonetheless, with your current statistics, I think your chances are overall decent to those schools.

By the way, your list of universities does not include any safeties - except perhaps Loyola Marymount University, but I think that is a match instead.

It will improve a little bit, but I’m not sure it will go up enough to a 3.8.

I have some ideas for safeties, but nothing set in stone. Do you have any ideas for safety schools that have good business programs?

I am not sure whether these are safeties, but they should be at least matches:
University at Buffalo SUNY, Binghampton, Stony Brook, CUNY

University of Hawai’i at Manoa has a very good business school
