PLEASE CHANCE ME FOR TOP SCHOOLS AND TELL ME OF THE PROS AND CONS OF MY APPLICATION (OR WHAT I SHOULD’VE DONE IN RETROSPECT). I’d be happy to chance back!!! Thanks.

Are there some extracurriculars/activities that i should not mention in my app to make my self look more direction-oriented?

I think your app is impressive, however, I would apply to some “safer” schools. HYP, UPenn, Duke, and Stanford are all very risky schools that even reject great applicants since there are so many students applying, and especially since some of them are Ivy leagues.

I think your activities and ecs are great since they show that you are well rounded as well as being interested in business and gov’t (stocks, us campaign). Also, make sure you can afford the colleges you are applying to since you probably won’t get a good fin. aid.

Your grades and SATs are great, which you obviously know, but when applying to the top tier schools that isn’t really a selling point, it just gets you taken seriously as a viable applicant. At that point they’re going to look at everything else about your application, which is where you really need to stand out.

I would say that your EC’s are awesome and I don’t see anything that you should exclude. They show that you are well rounded AND that you have focus. In my opinion, it’s going to come down to your essays. You write that you don’t have any hooks, but you have to really dig deep and figure out a way to write an essay that makes you stand out. Show your schools that you’re unique, and a valuable asset.

I think Georgetown and Duke are matches, and the rest of your schools are reaches (as they are for everyone), but that you do have a chance at them.

Good luck, and congrats, your application is honestly amazing!

thanks for the reply… I will be applying to many safety schools but I think I am good to go in terms of admission there; thats why i wanted to ask about the top level schools.

@mayajumbalaya in terms of essays, should i talk about my extracurriculars shaping me or attack them in another manner?

may i ask how you could’ve gotten 800,800,800 and a 2370?

I think you’re a shoe-in anywhere. You should obviously apply to 1-2 safeties, given the Ivy League lottery. What do you wanna study in college? You should orient some ECs/Awards towards that. What specifically did you get on each AP and subject test? You should also fix your given SAT score, It doesn’t really add up.

@baller55
sorry i meant 770 Reading, Im stupid ----for subject tests i got 800 Math and like high 700s in the other ones… AP Calc, Bio, World History, Human Geo-- all 5’s… Im waiting for thise years results but im assuming all 4’s and 5’s.

Also, i put the majors im interested in in the original post, so which ECs/Awards do you think i should orient toward that?

Thanks.

Yea so with international relations, talk about that intern on the senate. For Econ or business, you should do that intern with business firm

Not much you can do to improve awards section, just send as many as possible

You have a good shot in terms of scores and ECs, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get in to any of those schools; you are ORM. Nevertheless, you’re competitive at all the schools. Chance back?: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1778302-chance-an-asian-yale-duke-williams-p1.html

Thanks!

Bump

bumppp

bump, anybody?

All of those are great schools and very hard to get in but you have a solid app, maybe Duke and Georgetown would be matchs/high matches and the rest reaches
Good luck

I don’t see any cons to your application honestly, as long as your essays are well thought out and written well. These schools are a crapshoot, but you’re competitive for sure. Good luck!

bump…any tips when writing the application? should i leave off any activities in case that would make me seem more focused to a certain major?

your ECs and test score with 2370 SAT seem to be pretty good but i think being Asian obviously works against you… im not sure about leaving activities off or things like that… maybe someone else will have a better idea about that?
