Hello CC! Thanks for chancing me! Here's my list: Brown, UC Berkeley, UCLA, U of Chicago, Claremont McKenna, Columbia, Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, Pomona, Princeton, Stanford, Swarthmore, WUSTL, and Yale!

ACT: 34

SAT II:
World History: 800
US History: 800
Math: 730
Chem: 710
Lit: 780

Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0; w/ freshman yr.): 3.9

AP's: 13 plus two community college classes
All 4's and 5's (mostly 5's) on AP tests

EC's:
President and founder of History Club (3 years)
Mock Trial (2 years)
JSA (4 years); I did the Fall State competition my junior year
NHS
Geography Club: VP (2 years)
Club Volleyball (7 years)
High School Volleyball (4 years): varsity for 2 years
I got a lot of volunteer hours by ref-ing volleyball.
I got the bulk of my volunteer hours working as a docent at the local history museum.
I was a guest contributor to my school's newspaper.
I organized a lecture at my school--one of my favorite historians came to speak in front of an assembly.

Recs: Should be great!

Essays: good

Interviews: I only interviewed at Pomona, and it went really well!

State: CA

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: White

Well, that about sums it up! I left out varies awards, as well as some clubs that I was a member of but didn't hold a leadership position in. The Princeton and Harvard volleyball coaches have showed some interest in me--hopefully that will help. My top choices are Stanford, Columbia, Brown, Pomona, and UC Berkeley. Thanks!

By the way, my two community college classes were Psych 101 and Spanish 103, so I ended up having three and a half years of a language. I don’t know if that makes a difference, but I’ve heard it does.

Come on! 173 views, and no responses? I’ll try to chance back!

Bump…I’m learning CC lingo!

Bump bump bump

wow 13 APs, amazing. how many AP courses are available at your school? if there were only 13 and you took all 13, then I’d say you have a good chance

your stats are really good. Since you applied to a lot of colleges, you will surely get into one of them. GOOD LUCK

Strong background academically and with a good EC record. UChi should like you as will others on that list. The schools you have chosen all have far more excellent applicants than sports so even with first tier numbers and ECs it is always a crap shoot. That being said, you stand as good a chance at most of them as anyone.

Good luck.

your credentials are impressive but I feel like male, history loving candidates are really common. I’d say that might be a hurdle for some of the super diversity oriented schools.

^ That’s true. However, it’s what you do with that love, or rather passion, for history that counts. I think I have conveyed that pretty well through my extracurricular choices, and my essays.

To VeryFat,
I think my school offers about 21 or so AP’s, but it would have been impossible to take all of them! I actually miss counted my AP’s. I took eleven.

You make a valid point. Also being a white male applicant anywhere kinda hurts, but I’m in that boat with you buddy.

I hear that. The things I would give to be Native American! haha

I am sure you will get into atleast one of those. Good luck.

That’s a lot of colleges! In terms of the highest Ivy League schools, you’re strong academically and not that strong in extracurriculars, but in general, you’re a very solid candidate.

High-five for History Club!

I think you have a great shot at the Ivies. UC Berkeley should be a safety for you. From my experience with close friends/classmates, Stanford cares less about test scores and more about depth of ECs, the essays, and letters of rec. I don’t know enough about the other schools to provide an honest ranking–but good luck with all of them!
