How large your class?
Whats your UC GPA?
Are you in-state?

Even still,
UCLA- match
UCB - match
UCSD - match

class = about 246 students
whats UC GPA???
not in state. In singapore. and i need financial aid
any more comments??? anyone??

^I think that reduces your chances by a lot, considering you are out of state and not even in this country o.o

Hmmm well, Singapore is a country that speaks fluent English, and I’m sure UC’s would love to have Singaporeans… however, I’m not sure..

UC GPA is where you take your classes from only 10-11th grade, and give extra weight to 8 semester classes that are approved HONOR courses and AP courses.

oh no..
… international student + financial aid = most likely reject at UCs

and to the post above mine, UC GPA does not award extra points to internationals and out-of-state applicants for school designated honors classes.. only AP and IB.

international student + financial aid = most likely reject at UCs
i don’t think thats very true.
anyone other comments pls?

ANYONE??? any comments will be appreciated

public schools have small endowment.. they can’t possibly provide financial aid for international students unless they are extremely qualified. it is the truth, but good luck dude

any other comments?
do i need to improve on my ECs and stuff..or my grades

The two Top 100 schools that are cheap for out of state (or out of country) are U of Minnesota and the SUNYs at Bingamton and Stony Brook. They are each $21,500 tuitions, fees and room/Board.

An international student will rarely get any financial aid at government sponsored universities.

how about harvard and stuff??
do i need to improve on my ECs and stuff..or my grades

fine…what if I do not need financial aid…can people tell me UCs that will match with my stats..do i need to improve on my ECs and stuff..or my grades
Chances at Ivies and stuff?

dude…
the fact is ur out of state and out of country is going to hurt u a LOT plus the financial aid is like adding to that LOT. most of the ivies r reaches. try some privates that has a lot financial or u can try for the lowere UCs (UCM, UCR) then transfer. theres little u can do now.

common..i’m just applying as an international student…there are tons of them applying to those top schools and getting financial aid and stuff every year
Just because your not in US doesn’t mean it would hurt you alot if you apply to US schools

do i need to improve on my ECs and stuff..or my grades?

bump… (10 chars)

what does it mean by out-of state and out-of country?

Out of state for Cali means you live in like New York or Nevada.

Out of country means you dont even live in the US and you live, say in Australia.

And yes, financial aid + international is going to hurt you a lot at the UC’s. Even though you said that you dont believe it…here’s just a viewpoint from a Cali resident. Maybe you should just go for privates.

This is why
-UC’s dont have huge endowments so they cant afford to pay for international students when they have just as qualified California residents who need the aid
-UC’s know the Cali state standards for school classes (honors/ap/etc)
-UC’s are mainly a competition for in state students, we get in because our parents pay taxes to the state of California, which supports the UC’s, so students who live in California have parents who have basically supported the school already and will be paying more if their child is accepted
-gpa needs to be a lot higher for international students.

you should come to california from singapore like i did…but it might be too late :(
