You are very solid. But, with many of the posters, I am also in agreement, your safety schools, have to be truly safety schools. I would think about Udub, Purdue and U of I, in this mix. ^^ UIUC Computer Science/Engineering is super competitive and would not be a match these days.
Agree with adding Purdue to the list; also look into U of Alabama, as you’d qualify for a good bit of merit aid there, and possibly U of Michigan as a high match/low reach.
^^ UMich CoE is definitely a low reach to reach. Both GPA and SAT are below admission average. Applying to LSA for CS may be a low reach as GPA and SAT around admission average.
Thanks for all of the responses so far. I’m going to take the ACT since someone suggested it (I’m not so great at taking the SAT). If I got > 34 for composite score, do you guys think it would significantly raise my chances at top schools?
If you got 34+ in ACT, UMich LSA may be a high match from OOS. It is right above the 75%.
Test score is not everything but still very important. Here is a list test score ranking from Forbes. http://www.businessinsider.com/smartest-colleges-in-america-2014-10
My suggestion is to go with UTA for CS unless you get into one of your reaches, specifically MIT, Stanford, CMU or Caltech. GTech, UIUC, UMich are all similar to UTA and will not give you more bang for the buck or prestige.
