ECs:

10th grade and 11th grade neuroscience lab research position - will be getting letter of rec from lab

Lab research cited at international conference (just a notable accomplishment, I think)

4 year varsity crew (Coxswain) - this runs fall, spring, and winter

I’d assume my recommendations and essays to be top notch.

What do you think about my chances? I might be applying ED II. Thanks!

Your chances are as good as it can get. Perfect GPA and above average ACT. Make sure your essays are great and you should have no problem getting in.

Just an FYI, admissions essentially disregards your choice of major unless you’re planning on majoring in engineering. I think if you apply EDII you have very, very good chances.

Essays are very important. We had a high stat family member who did not put their best effort into the essays. They were admitted to Harvard, but wait listed at Tufts (RD). Once a school’s overall admissions gets below about 20% (which means the RD admission rate is quite a bit lower) admissions can also take on a seemingly random component because admissions decisions include the desire to create a “balanced” student body.
