Applying for Financial Aid- Yes

Please be honest, no hard feelings  i know tufts is definitely a reach for me. Are there any other schools(in the Northeast) that you may recommend in my range? Thank you!!

I think Tufts will be a reach for you, based on your SAT scores, your need for FA, and you are part of an “over-represented minority” applicant pool. As the aunt of an Asian college student, I think there is a higher hurdle for Asian applicants to overcome, as all seem to have impeccable grades/test scores/extracurricular activities. If you can bring up your SAT score, and make yourself “unique,” you will be more competitive. Also, based on our experience, and the statements of others on this board, FA is not predictable, and Tufts is need-aware, meaning their admissions decisions are made with the knowledge of who is applying for FA. If you need aid, there are schools that provide merit aid and offer attractive packages for deserving students with your stats. University of Rochester, Villanova and Connecticut College, come to mind, but it’s probably fairly easy to research the schools in the area that provide merit aid. Boston College and BU might be options for you to consider as well, not sure how their aid programs work. Don’t know much about Northeastern, but it’s also in Boston. Seems to be harder and harder to get into, based on comments on this board.

Thank you so much for the response! I will definitely look into those schools! @Naspy58
