i said good for the UCs, everything else needs the higher SATs i would say since your UWGPA is pretty low. definitely doable though

Are you in the top 10% of your high school? Visit

http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com

Type in the name of your potential school then find the “how do I stack up” link.

Michigan - 63% of Freshman 3.75 UW GPA, Avg SAT 1995, proj admit rate 40%, - low reach/high match (as an OOS applicant be aware that financial aid beyond loans will be difficult)

NYU - 39% UW GPA at 3.5-3.75, avg SAT 2005. Match. (NYU notorious for lousy fin aid)

UCSD - 80% High School GPA 3.75+, 100% top 10% of class, avg SAT 1895 - Reach unless you’re top 10%?

UCSB - 76% UW GPA 3.75+, 96% top 10% of class, SAT 1815, less of a reach than UCSD but are you in the top 10% of your class

UCLA - 93% UW GPA 3.75+, 97% top 10% of class, Avg SAT 1940. Probably biggest reach of your UCs

USC - Avg admitted GPA 3.8, Avg SAT 2135 (25th%tile is 2020) - Reach

Carnegie Mellon - 48% GPA 3.75+, Avg SAT 2080 (your SAT is just above the 25th%-tile) - Reach

In short you have a very tough list. There is no one school that I can look at and say it’s a definite admission. That’s not to say you won’t get into any of these schools but it is to say that you have a lot of people ahead of you in line. I’d visit the individual school forums here on CC and see how your stats measure up to admitted students this year. I’d also add some schools with lower admission statistics just to be sure that you have a place to go come September 2012.
