Hey, thanks for clicking on my post my post!

I am applying to LSA and Ross preferred admission.

My stats:

3.8 unweighted GPA

I know my scores are a little low, but I will be trying to up the, this fall
APs - Calc, Chem, Literature (rest are honors)
Student Council member
NHS member
Consistent volunteer at local youth center
11 varsity letters (4 lacrosse and alpine skiing, 3 football)
Senior captain for all 3 sports
Rotary Youth Leadership Award recipient and counselor following year
National Leadership Conference attendee (Business & Entrepreneurship)
Have held a job at a restaurant for 2.5 years (work 6 hours a week during school and 25 during summer)
All of my essays are quite strong

Any help is much appreciated!

Also do you think I might get any scholarships/grants? My EFC is $19,000

Your GPA is fine but your test scores are a little lacking. You can make up for that though with your ECs which have a nice balanc of athleticism and leadership. If your essays and recs are spectacular then id say match/high match.

Personally I think your GPA and test scores are great
It’s totally possible that you could get in. But NHS is sort of, kind of useless.Your other ECs are really good though! All the best! When does your result come out?

Yeah I know NHS is pretty useless, but I decided I would join because it certainly couldn’t hurt and wouldn’t want it to make a difference not being a member.

I hope I hear back soon! They just received all my documents and are ready for review. Michigan is on a rolling system so I could hear back in a few weeks, but it could be as late as mid-April. I really hope they get back to me quickly though.

Jobs and volunteering is a big plus. Your scores aren’t that bad, pretty solid in fact. For U Michigan, probably a high match. I would encourage you to also apply to other schools of the same tier or higher. You want to apply to reach schools just in case you do get into one. Good luck!

I am sorry to tell you that you can pretty much forget about Ross pre-admit. It would be a high reach for you. For LSA, it will depend on your state residency. If you are oos, it would be a low reach to reach as your GPA is below admission average (3.85) and you SAT is below 25% (2030). If you are in state, you may be a high match for LSA.

I don’t think you will get into Ross preferred admission, but I do think you have a good chance at LSA.

UM is holistic, with heavier weight on GPA and course rigor.

UM gives very little merit. I would doubt you would get anything. That being said- there are other sources of scholarships, and if you need them to attend, you can investigate.
