It will be very hard becaus Florida has low oos

I know :(. We visited last spring and they claim that the admission process is independent of the state the applicant is from, the price is what deters out of state students. They also have a very large in state scholarship which helps keep almost all Floridians in state.

“It will be very hard becaus Florida has low oos.”

This is a very misleading statement. UF has low oos admissions because they have low oos applicant rates. It’s the same acceptance rate for in state, 43% generally. And UF does NOT, does NOT, give in state students first pick and then let OOS scrap for spots. OOS students have the same chance as in state.

That being said, you need to figure out your UF GPA. Honors classes are worth .5 and AP classes are worth 1.0 above a 4.0. So an A in an AP is a 5.0, and an A in an honors is a 4.5. But a B in an honors is a 3.5, and a B in an AP is a 4.0. But you have a 3.83 weighted HS GPA…so your UF GPA is probably going to be lower than that.

Look at this-
[University of Florida - Admissions](Freshman - How To Apply - University of Florida)

Your GPA is pretty heavily weighted at UF. And UF superscores the SAT, but a 1950 is quite good. Your customer service and volunteer work could boost you. But what I’m saying to you, is that if you want in-write a damn good essay.

Your academics for UF’s standards really aren’t that exemplary. Your volunteer work and other Ec’s are pretty solid though. UF is a great #1, but you’d also be good for UGA. Make sure you have a backup, because for UF…who knows.

Since their ACT avg is only around a 29, do you think a 34 would make me a shoo in? With the GPA thing; Im going to get a copy of all of my class grades as soon as I can and my high school uses the exact same scale as UF, so I think that is a close estimate.

A 34 ACT would definitely make you stand out. It would take you from “probably not” to “damn good chance.”
